Quote:Wouldn't you rather see a Jaguars win at home over a game where there's virtually no chance for victory?

Isn't that pretty much every game anyway?
Quote:I'm predicting there is a 75% chance we don't play the packers in London.

The Packers are one of the most popular NFL teams in the present era but have never played a regular season game in London.   They are overdue to play in London.   If the Jaguars home game vs. the Packers isn't moved to London,  there's a pretty good chance another Packers game will be moved to London or somewhere else outside North America.    Being that the NFL wants to heavily promote the league in London,  having Aaron Rodgers play a game over there in his prime would seem to fit the direction the league has been going in.
Quote:As long as the Jaguars are considered the "second billing" and not the "main attraction," this is going to continue to happen for our London games.

A top tier team will be necessary to send to London, and we're not currently there.  You want to send teams that represent your best.

Not an easy pill to swallow for STH, but completely logical from a business standpoint.
This is so true. The bolded is exactly how i feel. Only 7 home games. I understand it but I don't have to like it.

Quote:That's easy. Give London a Titans or Texans (or even colts) game.

2013 Titans

2014 Texans

2015 Colts
I don't think the NFL (or many teams) want divisional rivalries played in London.

They're trying Jets Dolphins this season..

I am sure there are quite a few Dolphins fans (and transplanted New Yorkers) not thrilled about that.

Wow....

so the better team (MIA) will lose a home divisional game?

I'm not a STH, don't know if I ever will be... but if I were.. THAT would get me chapped.

The divisional games are always the better games. Even if your team is the pits, like ours has been, the clots and tacks and tinhorns games were always the ones I thought we had a chance to win and upset some folks.

smh...
Give London our two preseason games. They wont know the difference.

Something that's been suggested many times, and gets the NFL into the cognitive dissonance of how they treat the preseason. They claim they're real games and that's why they're priced like real games, but when you talk about relegating the overseas games to preseason games they'll admit they're not real games and wouldn't drive the passion they want to drive in those formative markets.

Oh, they will.

A lot of British fans are very knowledgeable about the game. They're less likely to be casual, just-because fans, because if they were just looking for a team to casually support they'd most likely have picked a local team in a local sport. These are people who go out of their way to follow a sport that's only really played four thousand miles away on a different continent. You can be pretty sure they know the difference in quality between preseason and regular season games.

This made me laugh. Good one.
Quote:How do you know?

Ticket resale value has proven by far that that Steelers / Jags game is always the hottest NFL ticket in town

Plus, they'd actually get the benefit of seeing the Jags be in a competitive game.

Bummer. Three out of four years that the best home game of the year is heading overseas.

Let's look at this from a Win/Loss perspective.  We'd probably lose to the Pack anyway so why not ship that game over and keep a more competitve game here at home where the fans can help make a difference in the outcome.  In other words, I see us in 2016 as having a chance to beat the Bears, Lions, or VIkes at home so keeping that NFC North game at home is probably better strategically in attempt to win the division.

 Good point

OUCH!!!!!! Sad, but unfortunately true as of late.

Hopefully that changes real soon, as in next season soon.

P.S. Had they been given the preseason game(s) last year, they would have seen Blake Bortles play so great that one reporter compared it to being a "Rock star"
Quote:When has Dallas ever been our best home game  especially when the steelers are on the schedule.

On top of that, Dallas was an 8-8 team when they were scheduled. Hardly some conspiracy to take away our "best" home game.

I think some people are just looking for something to whine about.
Dallas is considered a premium game regardless of their record.

I disagree with this line of thinking.

While we certainly would be considered the underdog in the match-up, I think that point is completely irrelevant.  If you're a fan of the NFL, you want the opportunity to see the best the NFL has to offer, even if you're likely to come out of the game on the losing end.  And suppose the Jags defy odd maker expectation and pull out a win.  Those are always the sweetest victories to celebrate at the end of the day.  I'm not paying for season tickets to only see games we have a chance to win.  I'm paying to see the games where we have an opportunity to face off against the best, and possibly walk out with a win despite the odds.

I completely agree. In fact if no one remembers, Gabbert had his best statistical game against the Packers a few years ago and the game was one of the most compelling that the Jaguars have played since Garrard left.

I agree and that is what is frustrating. I think we got lucky this year that there was not a "premium" opponent in our home schedule, so they moved Buffalo.

O'Halloran mentioned in the paper over the weekend that in 2017, they have home games against Baltimore and Seattle. And in 2018, Philadelphia and Washington. I would expect that we lose one of those home games each year.

It sucks.
