Quote:Let's look at this from a Win/Loss perspective.  We'd probably lose to the Pack anyway so why not ship that game over and keep a more competitve game here at home where the fans can help make a difference in the outcome.  In other words, I see us in 2016 as having a chance to beat the Bears, Lions, or VIkes at home so keeping that NFC North game at home is probably better strategically in attempt to win the division.

that's absolute garbage and you know it.

Jacksonville fans should be upset about losing a very attractive game to London.

The Jaguars as an organization may not care about that, but I will not make excuses for them.  It sucks and everyone that goes to the games knows it.

It is still not our best home game. If you are trying to appeal to cowboy fans, then you can call it a premium game.

There's a difference between the best home game, and the most appealing opponent on the schedule.

The Cowboys are a global brand.  Look at the 2014  home schedule  and of all the match-ups we had on the schedule at home, that was the most obvious game to target for London because Dallas is a big draw regardless of record.

The schedule this year doesn't have a premium match-up that offers an opponent that will draw similarly to what Dallas does.  There's a reason people are predicting the Green Bay game will be the selection next year.  They draw huge crowds regardless of where they go.

The NFL wasn't trying to appeal to the Cowboy fan when they put that game in London.  They were trying to appeal to lukewarm or new NFL fans who don't have a clue about the Jaguars, but everyone knows who the Cowboys are.  For a team like Jacksonville who can tack a premium on ticket prices for home games that would draw more interest, losing a game like Dallas or Green Bay to London may help the bottom line, but it deprives the fans of an opportunity to see these teams.  I'm a Jaguar fan, but I LOVE to see the premium opponents play here.  As an NFL fan, it diminishes the value of my tickets to lose those games.

You don't want to see any home games in London which is understandable.

But let's be realistic here. This was a non division, non conference, and non rivalry game This was an 8-8 team we were scheduled to face in London. The fact that they are called the cowboys has little bearing on jaguars fans. This was at best the 6th most meaningful home game for the jaguars. No one has been holding their breath waiting to see Romo play in everbank except maybe some local cowboys fans.

Division/Conference/Rivalry don't matter.  It's a premium opponent that would generate more interest from the local fan base.  I get why the league cherry picks the best possible opponents.  I just don't agree with the approach.  Last year there were other non division, non conference, and non rivalry games that could have been chosen.  The league picked Dallas because it would do exactly what I'm saying it would do here in Jacksonville.  The Giants and Dolphin games come to mind.  We had one exception that probably would have been a bigger draw and that was the Steelers game.  Fortunately, the league saw fit to leave that one alone.  The team was able to charge a premium for those tickets.

To say it was the 6th most meaningful game on the home schedule last year is laughable.  If that was the case, the NFL wouldn't have bothered shipping it to London, but keep telling yourself whatever you need to in order to prop this debate up.

BTW, those London games?  They have very little bearing on Jaguars fans.  The proof will be in the pudding this year when the ho-hum Jaguars face the equally middling Buffalo Bills.  My guess is that the "electricity" surrounding the arrival of two small market teams in London will rival a soft thud.  The good news is that London will host several games this year, so NFL fans will get an opportunity to see some decent football.  As a Jaguars season ticket holder, I don't even like losing the Bills game, but in looking at the schedule, none of the non-division, non-conference, non-rival games would have been a huge loss this year.  Buffalo is as good as any.

Apparently Shad is fighting to keep this game in Jacksonville. If this is true I hope he wins and keeps the game in Jax. I don't live in Jax but I recognize the importance of keeping a game like this at home and rewarding the fans with a marquee game.

At the very least Shad is showing that he will not simply rollover at the request of the rest of the league.

Agreed.  If the report is accurate and Khan is not just handing over the marquee games without resistance, that's encouraging.

I think you either do not understand or are just trying to be a contrarian.

Good. My guess is he heard the complaints from fans about losing the games against San Francisco and Dallas.

Why would fans complain about losing Dallas?  That was like the 6th most meaningful game on the schedule.

Oh yes. How could I forget.
It's a star driven league. Personally i would to see the Jags take on Green Bay at home going against probably a future hall of famer in AR.

What did London do to deserve that game? Not a damn thing.

I've already discussed the fact that moving the lesser match ups to London, once the NFL has establised an interest over there, makes the most business sense. It helps get butts in the seats over here and reinforces the jag brand over there. There has been a definite trend from NFC champion, to a mediocre "America's Team", to the bills. Some are just too short sighted and defensive, and would prefer to over blow how great the cowboy game would have been instead of being objective enough to recognize the actual declining trend in our London match ups.

I realize this kind of business sense is out of many's scope, but fortunately fo us, not Shad's. He is fighting to ensure this trend continues. Maybe some of you will start to get over this pity party about Shad taking all the good things away. What he's been doing all along has been in the best interest of the franchise and it's future here in jax.
Lol dallas mediocre. Thanks for the laugh.

Romo, bryant, murray, etc... team is stacked with star power.

So you mean all this bellyaching over Ryan O's opinion piece was a bit premature?

They were 8-8 and hadn't been to the playoffs in 5 years when they were scheduled.

That's about as mediocre as an NFL team gets.

And yet still the Cowboys.

Would someone rather see an 8-8 bucs team or am 8-8 cowboy team.

Which is still right between the defending NFC champs and the bills as far as drawing interest in London and not our best home game last season.

In Jacksonville they would rather see an 8-8 steelers.
