<p style="background-color:transparent;">The Giants could rescind the franchise tag, wow

<p style="background-color:transparent;">Andy Slater of WINZ in Florida reports Giants unsigned franchise player Jason Pierre-Paul suffered a "severe" hand injury during a fireworks accident on the fourth of July.

JPP is from Florida and played college ball at USF. He has not signed his franchise tender and therefore is currently not under contract. If the hand injury is severe enough, the Giants could rescind Pierre-Paul's tender and be off the hook for his $14.813 million salary, sending JPP into unrestricted free agency. We'll wait for the rumors to be confirmed to pass along anything definitive, but there are whispers that JPP may have lost fingers and/or parts of his hand.
Sounds like it was a pretty bad injury, including lost fingers. Terrible.
Hope he wasn't trying the ole firecracker in your fingers trick
Dude, if I had a 14 million dollar payday waiting for me, I'd hire someone to light my fireworks for me. This guy has to feel like a clown right about now.

I would be in hospital signing the contract!!

You're damn right. Although, we all know the Giants wouldn't let that happen; I doubt they let him take the original contract home and "think on it."

Well, I hope the 14 million dollar show was worth it. I would love to be a fly on the wall in Tom Coughlin's office right now.
Some reports saying it isn't career threatening. I would consider losing fingers a career threatening injury for a pass rusher, so I have to assume he didn't lose any fingers.

so

stupid

Now that could be one very expensive "BANG"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the Giants MB is in meltdown mode as we speak.

I wonder if he signed the tag whether or not one of the contingencies were to not engage in high risk activities?

Football players aren't paid because they're scholars or intellectuals...

JPP has burns on palm, 3 fingers. 1 finger could have nerve damage. Didn't lose any fingers, team thinks he'll be OK, per @DanGrazianoESPN.

Sounds like it did not end up as bad as first feared.

Meanwhile, look at the education these clowns get for free. Too bad they don't offer fireworks safety degrees at USF.

I think he went to USF for a semester.
Before the incident, a concerned neighbor took a picture of his UHaul rental van filled with fireworks.

The situation with JPP seems very uncertain at this time.   Hopefully,  others will learn from his costly mistake:

A firecracker going off in your hand won't do that. Maybe he put his hand over a fountain to keep it from setting something (else) on fire.
