Lol, I think thats how most people here feel....but he was apart of the team for so long it just feels like he would be apart of the game day experience forever.
Why was this moved to the sideline? If this isn't Jaguar related, I don't know what is.

After 19 years, Curtis probably got tired of the SMELL in there. I hope when they say the new mascot will use the same suit that they don't actually mean THE SAME SUIT.

So the requirements for the job posting should read as:
College educated
Experienced BASE jumper preferred
Semi-Professional golfer
Ability to ride a Segway
Must be able to stand for hours on end and withstand 100+ degree temperatures inside a 50 pound suit
Able to entertain crowds of 65k plus
Am I missing anything?

Annual performance bonuses based upon how much of the NFL's annual "Things Mascots Shouldn't Do" video is footage of you.

Quote:There was a similarly quick transition that took place when Brian Sexton made way for Frank Frangie. Sexton was presented with an opportunity that he couldn't turn down. Hopefully the change of bodies in the mascot suit won't reap similar results, and we're stuck with a mascot who is about as entertaining as paint drying.
Hopefully whoever takes over as Jaxson is better at his/her job than the train-wreck that is Frangie as PBP voice.

As I continue to digest this situation, I can't help but to feel that there's more to this story than is being told. Why not have a farewell year to remember him by. Is it the fact of another person simply dawning the suit and J-Deville continues on.
He was voted to be the best mascot in all of sports. Why leave like this?
WHY!!! :-(

Didn't Curtis promise the fans that he would retire as soon as he won our first Superbowl?

Curtis was on 1010xl this afternoon and said Mark Lamping asked him to do one more farewell year but Curtis said that's not his style and he's ready to move on to other things.
He also said he'd been considering this for the past few years.

Can't believe this wasn't on here sooner. So Curtis is retiring after 19 years. Congrats to the best mascot of all time and the guy responsible for some of my most memorable Jaguars moments.

He said this morning on 1010XL that there were some opportunities that had come up that he wanted to explore. He's still a young guy, so if he was going to jump, doing it at the top of his game is a wise decision.

BTW, we're not really saying goodbye to Jaxson. We're simply witnessing the rebuilding of this entire organization, and the time has come for us to move on to the next version of Jaxson. The suit (or some version of it) will continue to be there on game day.

Wow, I cannot believe there is not a post about this yet. Curtis, thank you for 19 great years Brother. I have watched you since the beginning and since the start you were hands down the best mascot in Professional Sports.

I'm shocked that there's only one thread about this subject.
