Pat Mahomes?

Quote:The top 3 on this mock seem right on target. If it does happen, I believe the Jaguars will attempt to trade down to a team wanting Kizer, Watson or Mahomes. There just isn't a player at this spot worth it if they could acquire extra picks. Adams, Fournette and Hooker certainly have pro bowl talent, but I'd rather drop down about 10-15 spots and get that extra 2nd rounder. This would enable them to get 3 of the top 36 players. With the upgrades the Jaguars need at running back, offensive line, tight end (if Thomas is let go), safety and pass rushing defensive linemen they could benefit greatly with this extra pick. I would throw in quarterback, but I don't seem them going in this direction so high in this draft. Who might they pick with these 3 picks? I'd be happy with several combinations, and would especially hope Feeney falls to pick 35 as he fills the team's most important need. If he's not there, they could still get Elflein with one of the 2nd rounders and Budda Baker (if Cyprien leaves) with the other. The 1st rounder could be Dalvin Cook, O.J. Howard, Cam Robinson, Barnette or maybe even Hooker would fall to that spot.

I agree. Personally, I would like to trade down and get a combination of Dan Feeney, D'Onta Foreman and Eddie Jackson.

This guy is already on our roster! Other than a quicker short route release, he has the same deep ball, feet, and upright pocket movement as the number five starting for the Jags.

A much quicker, shorter release and also with a lot more velocity. That's a big difference.

Agree with that in the short to intermediate, but you see some scary similarities in footwork and throwing motion. I was watching this year's highlights and instantly thought of Blake. Most of his throws are severely off-balance. I imagine his arm could be very strong if he got his legs under himself.

Would Feeney or Foreman be your 1st rounder in this scenerio? I'm not sure either would be worth a top 15 pick, although if Feeney turns out to be a multi-year pro bowler I'd be o.k. with taking a guard that high.

The good thing about a trade-down scenerio like this is that the Jaguars will have many good options with each of these 3 picks. Someone like Christian McCaffrey might even be there at the top of the 2nd round. This is also a very strong draft for cornerbacks and even though the Jags seem pretty solid with Ramsay, Amukamara and Colvin they might get a steal at this position in the 2nd round. One of the 2 Gators might even drop to the 2nd and they'd be hard to pass on there.

Bottom line, if Garrett is taken before the Jaguars choice (95% likely) it would be in their best interests to trade down if some team desperate for a quarterback is stupid enough to make the offer.

If Myles is gone but Jon Allen is there...you take him.

We arn't in a position to be passing up on quality pass rushing talent.

Yes, Feeney and Foreman would both be in play. I have them both going in round 1. Currently I have Foreman going to Oakland and Feeney going to Green Bay. I would never take McCaffrey, because I don't see him as an every down RB. I see him as a complimentary RB and we have enough of those. Again, I too believe CB is high on our radar. I don't see any of the guys that we currently have as bonafide #2 corners opposite Ramsey. Amukamara is a solid Nickle candidate and I'm not sold on Colvin. As it stands now if we stay at #4, I currently have us taking, (not my choices, but who I believe we select) .......

RD 1. Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

RD 2. Eddie Jackson, S, Alabama

RD 3. Dorian Johnson, OG, Pitt

RD 4. Tarell Basham, DE, Ohio University

RD 5. Dwayne Thomas, CB, LSU

RD 6. Javarius Leamon, ORT, South Carolina State

RD 7. Kenneth Olugbode, LB, Colorado

It really depends on if someone causes a run on QB within that top 3. I am hoping so and Allen falls.

I just don't see any QB prospects strong enough to warrant that high of a pick. Maybe someone might take a chance on Trubisky, hoping he develops, but that's it. This is a very risky QB class with guys who are very raw and undeveloped.

Oh I agree. But it seems like in every draft, QB prospects who are average get propelled into top 5 spots just by virtue of the position they play.

And those awful teams ruin any chance they have at becoming better lol

Luck, Newton....

any other FIRST round QBs recently selected actually proving their worth?

Can't think of any more right off the top of my head that were first round QBs that have substantiated into legit starting caliber QBs.

I'd venture to guess more 2-4th round QBs have had just as much or more success.
