You think Caldwell and Bradley honestly thought they were gonna win more than 4 games with the worst roster in the league last year, then an offense starting practically 6 rookies this year? Youre kidding yourself. They arent stupid, they knew exactly what they were getting into. And the tanking isnt only about the draft picks, its giving experience and opportunities to many young players in hope it will make you better in year 3. 

It wasnt starting 6 rookies during the preseason. And the D was supposed to be legit after all the offseason additions. For certain Gus and Dave expected to be better than they are. I dont think anyone was saying playoffs, but more wins was definately a expectation.

Boy I miss the good ol' days with Jack Del Rio. We had players getting arrested, doing drugs, but yet still kicking other team's [BAD WORD REMOVED]. Other team's newspapers would say the Jags are the most physical and dominate defense coming in. At least we were interesting.


Now we have "high character" losers who are boring and can't buy a win. A coach who doesn't have a damn clue and is making us one of the jokes of the league. Boy has times changed. Some got what they asked for though. Fake improvement and competition.

 

I dislike the "choir boy" argument.  Justin Blackmon did drugs and got arrested.  How's that player helping us right now?

 

It's not about doing drugs or getting arrested.  It's about having initial talent and being willing to put in the time and effort to get maximize that talent.  See Manning, Brady, Megatron, JJ Watt, Gronk, etc.

I think Caldwell has done a good job of acquiring young talent. I am really unsure of this coaching staff when it comes to developing the young guys, and n putting them in situations where they can best succeed. We shall see if they can change my mind the rest of the season.

For the record, I voted for Caldwell and Bradley and against both coordinators. Babich is a non-issue to me, since it's Gus' defense. But, we struggled on D when he had the reins. Bradley took over, the defense improved... I'm surprised Fisch has struggled. I thought he'd come out swinging this season. That hasn't happened. I get that you have to take care of the rookie QB, but handcuffing Bortles just causes the secondary to creep in, which takes away the short pass, as well as the run. Let Blake make his mistakes and throw downfield. Don't handcuff the kid.

 

Again, this is a 3-year gut and rebuild. That's what it was billed as. If we don't see noticeable improvement this time next year, fine... Blow it up. But, can we really afford (morale-wise) another rebuild. This one has to be given ample time to succeed or fail. Caldwell and Gus must be supported at least through next year.

 

I'd like to see both coordinators replaced after this season (if there is no noticeable improvement through the end of this season), as well as the ST guy gone. ST has been a HUGE liability. We can do better... At least, Gus better hope we can do better.
