Henne is still our guy

Quote:Joking aside, what you are describing isn't done in the NFL. In the NFL, the only reason a QB should be replaced is if they are so far ahead they sit him to avoid injury. Otherwise you have some serious problems. Typically coaches protect their young QB and build his confidence through play calling. But that's about it.

Hmm ok, I've tried to base logic on what Football (soccer) teams do over here but clearly the cultures are even more different than I thought. To me, what you've described almost makes me want to laugh. I'm not sure if you watch English football but crowds don't just make noises and chant, they sing. Bigger crowds can quite easily completely demoralise younger players to the extent they simply can't play and have to be subbed.

They must be related to Jonathan Martin.

I don't see how Henne can relax Bortles...when Henne panics on the field.

I'm 100% certain you lot would be shocked if you saw a live English Soccer game, especially at Championship level. Over here, if my team (Charlton) was to play our local rivals (Millwall or Crystal Palace, aka the scum) 20% of the police force has to come down just to make sure no one gets murdered before all the derogatory singing takes place

I do watch Premier league.  No I've never watched a live game.  And I'm not nearly as familiar with the dynamics of everything going on as you probably are.   But I think the culture is different.   For instance, there is no hooliganism here.

I still really don't understand what you are talking about as far as calming a player down, or what the crowd has to do with anything.  In soccer, there are hardly any substitutions compared to NFL anyway. So what coaching tactics are being used to calm a player down again?

Comparing anything NFL with soccer is just counterproductive. It's like comparing swimming to rugby. Players here don't get drafted based on sensitivity training, they get drafted according to ability. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. If you need a shoulder to cry on in the NFL you'd best just go work at McDonald's. You'd get more sympathy there.

I figured by game 4 at the latest. I'm just glad it's done for.

I can understand how the singing would be very demoralizing.

They have a word for professional athletes who constantly need encouragement after they make a bad play.  Unfortunately I can't say it on this forum, but it refers to a certain body part on a woman.  Blake, thankfully, is not one of those.

That's correct.

At this point Henne's major responsibility is patting Bortles on the back and congratulating him after he just drove the team for another TD.
