TJ Yeldon looked good today

He was decisive with where he wanted to run, no dancing around or indecisive moves. He took the ball, made maybe 1 cut and burst up field. He ran well with out banged up line out there and he looked like a different back than what we are used to seeing with him. exactly what I saw, he looked like a completely different back.
Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17 2016 draft players I think will be good

Should have from the start. Fournette has whiffed on some blocks but he has caught the ball as good as any RB. If he has more opportunities and continues to prove himself then I believe he will take over for Ivory. We were missing two starters on our O-line.

I always liked Yeldon and I think that with his style of running he really suffered last year with our poor run blocking. The past 2 years he was met in the backfield more often than not and the fact we often played from behind didn't do him favours. Yesterday the line blocked better than he was used to and it showed.
His pass protection was very good, especially on a long completion where he perfectly handled his 1vs1 on the outside to give Blake a lot of time to throw. Also, he looked finally healthy, I think being inactive and recovering fully from the injuries was key. Last year staying healthy was an issue for him. Good to know we can count on him as well. It's a nice feeling, knowing we have a really good running back corps. If we can just keep the 4 we have, we're good for next year.
Again I'll say yeldon looked good but props go to the coaching staff for not just running him up the middle every time, and props to the oline for giving him room.
We are spoiled with fournette, ivory, and yeldon.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Ivory is over the hill and it shows in the lack of burst. He won't play here for 6.5 next year. Yeldon is another case study in the Pus Effect, young players who didn't mature under his soft touch.

Yeah nothing against Grant because I think grant has overall been pretty good for us as the 3rd guy. But It may be time to talk about Grant being the inactive guy and Yeldon being the active guy.
This is a good problem to have. So much talent at the RB position its hard to pick. Jaguars | Pacers | Purdue | Team USA

He had fresh legs. He looked good. I would rather he backup Fournette because of his different style.
Ivory won’t be back next year with his contract, draft one in late rounds and roll with
4Nette Yeldon Grant Rookie
I've never understood the Yeldon hate around here, and I've always said if he were more decisive and got north and south quicker he'd be fine.
Good depth is a luxury we've been unfamiliar with for some time now. Nice to see. That could be true, but the team has two ways of approaching this situation in terms of a cap hit. They can release him after this season (team option in his contract) and they'd have an immediate cap hit of 3 million. - OR - They can pay him 5.5 million to play in 2018 and release him after that season and have a $3 million cap hit spread out over 2019-2020. If he keeps up his performance and limits the fumbles, he may be able to stick for one more year, IMO. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

This is a good "problem" to have. Yeldon is solid, and looked really good yesterday. Personally, I still like Ivory better. Using him on screens this year when he has spelled LF have been very effective for the most part IMO.
Last season, I could see a big difference running styles between Ivory and Yeldon. Ivory looked much better (aggressive and strong style) than Yeldon. It was easy to see, just to my own eyes. Ivory did have fumble issues, and he did it again yesterday. I like Ivory as the #2 for this year. Next year will be a different story. Ivory will be another season older, and his price tag will probably mean that they'll move on from him anyway. Yeldon will be #2 next year for sure, and that's still a terrific option.

I agree... decisiveness and a better O-Line than last year.. he's a good player when he has protection.. As we saw yesterday.. ![]() 80% of what I talk about is nonesense.. the other 25% is made up statistics... |
