I admit the offensive line is a problem and need of major improvement.  Early in the year he would hit the pile and just move an extra yard or 2.  If just seems that power has been lost. I really hope he digs down deep against pittsburgh.

Nothing happened to him, he is what he is. A running back with mouth watering physical talent and medical concerns that will need a much better offensive line to live up to his greatest potential.

He needs a qb to be able to back off the defense, until then he will see 8 and 9 in the box all the time. He seems to have top end speed but little shirt area burst and acceleration and to me struggles with vision finding the hole. I thought he was better early when he was hitting the hole with authority, seems now he is tap dancing too much behind the line.

I don’t know about his ankle and all of that but I see some vision problems that are starting to worry me just a bit.

I've definitely seen a half dozen or so plays that were likely designed to run inside - but the block by the Tackle or TE was giving him the space to run outside and the receiver(s) had cleared the area.  It's incredibly rare for him to improvise and bounce it outside in those situations. 
Marquee backs should see that stuff every so often and make big gains away from the original play design. He seems a bit too content to richochet off the back of a tackle or guard and into a gap filling LB sometimes. 
I still think he can have a solid game and help the team to a win Sunday, but a few of my doubts about the player being taken so high are showing up a bit.  

I do think the injury is playing into this stuff also as his second efforts lack the power they had early in the year and his cuts  - when he makes them - seem less sharp.

This is right. With 8 in the box, all you need is a small hole and then there is no one there. He also has fallen in love with the spin move. Spinning doesn't get you into the hole it just makes it harder to tackle you in a straight line.

There have been plenty of cuts available that would give him holes. He just never tries. He is going forward or nothing.

I think a lot of it is that we have been playing revisionist history with how good he was early in the season too. He ran to the unimpressive tune of 3.8, 2.9, 3.5, and 3.6 yards in the first four games and was at an also unimpressive 27 carries for 91 yards (3.3 YPC) before the garbage time 90 yard TD run against the Steelers.

So, it doesn't count because in your opinion it was 'garbage time'?

Apparently a 90 yard run against a 10-11 man box specifically designed to stuff him on that play is garbage.
