Mike Mayock Just called us a playoff team this year on NFL network

Quote:Of course that's the goal. Why wouldn't it be? Bengals and Steelers will take the North and a WC spot.

Our best chance will absolutely be to win the South. It's pretty obvious so I'm not shocked you don't get it.

There is no reason to think my question is whether or not winning the division is our goal.

Dude, you are literally wanting to have the discussion of whether we need to win the AFC South.  And then you start to back track the minute you're called out on it.  I think you need to either explain yourself in more detail, or give up the ploy, bro.

Quote:Because there are two ways to get in the playoffs - division title or wildcard.

Quote:No team goes into the season with the goal of getting a wildcard spot. Every team wants to win their division. It's not a question.

Quote:I did not say it should be our goal.

It's way too early to judge this but you have to expect playoff contending teams as:

AFC EAST: Patriots.

Maybe Bills if Tyrod plays a whole season. Maybe Jets if they sign Fitz. Maybe Dolphins if they sing Kumbayah.

AFC NORTH: Bengals. Steelers.

Maybe Ravens if they get healthy.

AFC WEST: Chiefs. Raiders.

Maybe Broncos if they get a QB. Maybe San Diego if they can get healthy and protect Rivers.

AFC SOUTH: Texans or Colts or Jaguars ??

Just based on what "is expected", 1 WC is already gone to the loser of the North. The 2nd will be battled with most likely the Raiders at minimum. That is also not considering what happens with all the "Maybe" teams.

Just win our division. We can control that more than anything else.

Goal should be 6-0 in the division with a minimal of 4-2. Jags have not have a division record of 4-2 or better since 2005. IF they can get that, they should be able to win this division.

Your question did not have the word 'playoffs' in the sentence.

The answer is NO.

Some fan from Miss posted that there are 2 ways to get into the playoffs, win the division or get a wildcard.

So NO, we do NOT need a division title to get into the playoffs, a wildcard would get them in too.

Quote:After the Jack pick he called us a playoff team.

I don't think Myles Jack is old enough to drink and yet he will always be surrounded of talk that his career is almost over before it even starts, at least he didn't get drafted by a team known for player injuries... oh wait...

Nobody said his career is over. Teams were worried he may not reach the end of his rookie contract.

The Ravens should be healthy this season, expect the AFC North to beat on each other just as much as we'll beat on each other here in the South. The Raiders should be better, the Broncos may struggle on offense, the Chiefs are going to put up a fight... & we all play the AFC West.

We will beat the Bengals.

The AFC South may very well get a wild card.
