I think we have to draft Bosa or Buckner now.

I agree with everyone who says that out of Jack, Ramsey, Bosa, and Buckner, Buckner is the last choice because it is not a need.   Except that we need great players.   And if he's the only great player left, then I think we take him and figure it out.

My favorite pick remains Myles Jack.   Granted, he's not a pass rusher per se, and he's not secondary help per se, but he is such a powerful chess piece right in the middle of the chess board: a linebacker who excels playing in space.   He's a (possibly) better version of Telvin Smith.   We need more speed.   We need to cover backs and tight ends.

We can get all twisted in knots about where these guys fit, but I am of the opinion, take the best player and figure it out.

We are going to trade for a DE. I got that feeling. There is no way we dont.

Free agency was bittersweet, while we signed some very good players (Jackson, Ivory, Gipson & possibly Amukamara if healthy) not being unable to get a LEO made our draft more problematic.

What I have more concerns and I don't understand is why we haven't addressed the interior of the offensive line in FA with all those good players that were available.

Now we have a hole at centre or guard (depending if Linder or Cann slide to centre) and we'll probably have to count on another rookie in that position too.

If we had addressed LEO and interior Oline in FA the draft would have been much easier to predict in the first couple of rounds now it's all open.

Needs at LB, C or G and LEO will be the priorities.

That's a possibility and Caldwell brought trades options up a couple of times during the press conference, once even about the interior Oline.

Wonder who they might target at DE and eventually C though and how much that would "cost" us.

Could Bosa lose some weight and play Leo effectively? He's naturally quite strong so I think he could do it.

I still say take BAP, whoever Caldwell deems that to be. Pass rusher, LB or secondary are all likely. An offensive player would be the only shock. You give whoever our pass rushers are this year an extra half a second and they'll all look better and the sacks will come. A stronger secondary could even make the likes of Branch look good.

If can plug the 3 4 end into a 4 3 perhaps. But alot easier said then done.

That would probably be the best way to approach it. He isn't Clowney so he should drop to like 255 and get faster.

Quote:Second round also an option IMO
Several 4-3 and some more suited for 3-4 could be available at #38 like:

Emmanuel Egbah, Kevin Dodd, Shaquille Calhoun, Jonathan Bullard, Chris Jones. One of the deepest positions.

I wonder if Noah Spence fell that far after his combine performance if Caldwell would take him.  Somehow, I doubt it.

Myles Jack in the 1st is looking more and more like the pick.  Bosa if Cowboys take Jack instead.

Even if we signed a Leo I'd be cautious to expect great production (10+ sacks).

I hope Dave gets a couple Leo's I'm this draft. I'm not sold on 5t or 7t players like bosa that high in the draft. If it happens I'll root for him. However I think jack or Ramsey in the first plus some later Leo's is the way to build and improve our d.
