Griff's QB Mid-Season Rankings

Rudolph's a 3rd round pick talent wise who'll get picked in the 1st by a desperate team.

That's what I said. Sign Cousins,

Or

Eli AND Mayfield

My bad, read it wrong.

It's funny how Mayfield and Jackson were supposed to be the polarizing QBs this class, but I feel like it's clearly Rudolph.

And I don't get it. I've seen him play almost every game this season and for me, I have him virtually neck and neck with Mayfield as the best QB in this class. Rosen is right behind them. To me, the most polarizing is clearly Josh Allen. I watch him and I clearly see an average QB. Yes, he has a big arm, but he isn't always accurate, he lacks touch on his passes, he sometimes makes poor decisions and he looks lost at times. Despite these clear flaws, I continuously see him mocked by the so-called "experts" in the top 10 overall. I know there is a shortage of quality QB's for the needs of all 32 NFL teams, but Allen as a top 10 pick? What am I missing?

I think we're all being hoodwinked with the Allen love. I literally don't know a single person who defends mocking Allen high with anything except the ol "the NFL loves the tools" line. No one that will put their name on it likes him.

Allen reminds me of Ryan Mallet coming out. I'd take him in the 3rd, high risk high reward

Allen is like a Mallett or Hackenburg type huge and erratic arm talent type, but unlike them he is not a statue so I will give him a bit more credit than those guys.

Comparing him to Hackenburg makes me even more hesitant of drafting him. I hated Hackenburg coming out of college. He'd make one brilliant throw during a game and then he'd turn around and make 5 that wouldn't hit the side of a barn. Personally, I don't know why he's even still on the Jets roster.

Rudolph actually reminds of Savage or Mallett. Big arm, but just a statue back there.

What? Rudolph is one of the most nimble QB's you can get for a guy of that size. He has 10 rushing touchdowns on the year and is a great option around the goal line. He doesn't run a lot, but when he does, he's normally successful. He's really good at avoiding the pass rush as well. He's been compared to Ben Roethlisberger, when it comes to this aspect of the game.

100% agree.

If the Jags are to get a QB, I want Baker.

I feel 100% okay signing Eli and trading the farm for Baker.  We could also keep Blake if we see good Blake for the rest of the year.

I want to get an Olineman, Receiver, Linebacker, and a Tight End with the top 4 rounds... then I want to roll the dice on a QB. Guess that rules out Baker Mayfield for me.

I like that with the addition of Cousins.  Olinman, WR, TE

There's no QB worth taking after round 2.

Yeah... Outside of Mayfield, Rudolph, and perhaps Jackson... everyone else is gonna need quite a bit of work and learning.

At this point, where we are drafting and where Mayfield should go... we'll have to do a Rams (Goff), Eagles (Wentz), Atlanta (Julio) type move to get him.
I don't see it happening for a couple reasons.
1. Bortles, Caldwell's baby. If he continues to play "well" they are gonna do something stupid
2. Free agent/Veteran possibilities; Eli, Drew, Bradford, Tyrod... there are a lot of options out there to hedge your bets... so many so that I'm not sure anyone would trade the farm for a singular QB...
3. Browns picking #1 -- They NEED a QB. Surely they can't screw it up again?

However........ say we are picking 25, and Rudolph is there at.... 10-15?
I would not be opposed to that move up. It would cost some picks but wouldn't really mortgage the future.
This would allow the team to also do a lot at the veteran QB spot and while Rudolph would be a first round selection, with the right guy in front of him he could sit a year still if needed.
(I'm of the opinion you draft a guy in the first, he should play, right away)

I actually think Rudolph goes before Mayfield, because he has a squeaky clean image, whereas Mayfield is a bit of a risk, off the field. Right now, I have Rosen going #1 to the Browns, Lamar Jackson going to the Giants, Denver trading for Kirk Cousins, Washington taking Mason Rudolph via the Broncos pick and the Jets taking Mayfield. For the record, I have us selecting

1. WR Calvin Ridley, Alabama
2. QB Riley Ferguson, Memphis
3. TE Ian Thomas, Indiana
4. OG Skyler Phillips, Idaho State
6. CB Deion Harris, North Dakota State
7. LB Dalton Herrington, New Mexico State
7. OT/OG Austin Corbett, Nevada

I'd be OK with this turn out I suppose.
But this means we're either Bortles or Eli I would think, yeah?

Franchise/ReSign: AR15 and Omameh
Bortles gets reduced pay or cut
Colvin/Lee/Lewis allowed to walk

1.) Anthony Miller - WR - Memphis  (I think this kid is going to be the next Antonio Brown...2 years in a row of 1400+ yards and 14+TDs)
2.) Riley Ferguson - QB - Memphis (I have been calling for this guy for over 2 months...I hope he last til this pick but we might have to trade further up into the 2nd round.)
3.) Troy Fumagalli - TE - Wisconsin (TE that can block and catch...our identity is still run 1st and Fumagalli will take over Mercede's role)
4.)Desmond Harris - OT - West Georgia (Off the field issues have caused him to fall but another big body to add to the OL)
6.)Jordan Wilkins - RB - Ole Miss (Bigger back that averaged 6.5 YPC and broke 1k for an offense know as a pass 1st team also has great hands)
7.) BACB
7.)BACB
