Updated Draft Order

Crossing my fingers that the Raiders beat the Broncos next week along with a Jets win over the Packers.  I don't see any other upsets coming but a top 3 pick for the Jags (moving up above the Raiders w their sos) would be great.
Looks like we are going to be locked into the 5 spot which is totally fine. Jets could very well be the team we trade up with.

If the jets and oakland get a "W" that would be the best thing and an awesome x-mas gift to our fans, agreed! That would put us in the in the 3rd spot under arizona and the niners. Then we wouldn't have to trade up.
LOVE THEM JAGUARS!

Saw this little tidbit in Peter King's article in PFT...

"6. I think if there’s one positive thing in a negative year for the Raiders—and make no mistake about it, it’s been a very negative year—it has nothing to do with the draft choices acquired. It’s more about Jon Gruden and Derek Carr getting on the same page for the long term. Michael Gehlken in the Las Vegas Review Journal had a good analysis of how they’ve made it through this trying year, and I trust Gehlken. Smart guy. Good beat guy. The best line, from Gruden: “I felt maybe I inhibited him. Free yourself, free yourself from me, free your mind, trust your instincts, and go play. Don’t overthink these plays. Don’t overthink these situations. I just didn’t want to paralyze him with too many thoughts.”

Here is the link:  https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20...eter-king/

Gruden is known for preferring vets, especially at QB.

With Carr, he has a vet who is still within the prime of his career.  If he has won over Gruden's trust, then perhaps Oakland won't take a QB at their first pick.

If that's the case, barring a trade up by a team into the top four, based upon current standings, it would seem no team would draft a QB before us.

The Cardinals just drafted Rosen this year.

If what King reports is true, then the Raiders could be set with Carr.

The Jets drafted Sam Darnold at 3 this year.

The 49ers just traded for Garoppolo and signed him to a huge deal this year and they get him back.

If the current draft order remains unchanged (it won't), the Jaguars appear to be sitting pretty at 5 if thy want to use their first round pick on a QB.

What about the teams below them that have a pressing need at QB?

I don't see too many teams in that category.

Atlanta at 6 has Matt Ryan, just two years removed from the Super Bowl.

Detroit has Matt Stafford.  While not exactly young and not exactly great, he is still a good starter.

The Giants and Tampa are sitting at 8 and 9 and could conceivably use a QB, but they'd have to give up a lot to trade up ahead of Jacksonville to get their guy.

Then you have Buffalo and Green Bay at 10 & 11.  Buffalo just drafted Josh Allen and the Packers still have the great Aaron Rodgers.  Neither are likely to deal up ahead of Jacksonville to draft a QB.

Denver just signed Case Keenum.  He's far from a great QB, but may not be enough of a liability to force Elway to trade up from 12 to above 5 to get one of the signal callers.  Besides, I can't recall a team other than Dallas in 1991 and Miami in 2013 to trade up from 11 or later into the top 5.  It doesn't happen very often.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

...

Would be really great if the Raiders are not thinking QB early as this suggests.

Jonah Williams + Drew Lock or Will Grier interest anyone or are we all in on Herbert/Haskins at 5?

No reason to take a lesser QB , even if Jonah Williams is much needed here.

The only plan for this draft should be to take the best QB we can.

If Drew Lock was the top QB on our board, you'd take him first, then see what tackle you can get

See I think you can believe Lock is the best QB and know other people will take Herbert/Haskins ahead of him and plan accordingly. I'll take a good player in fantasy knowing the next three guys picking don't believe the guy I like better is as good as he is. Same concept

Yea except you are now hoping 27 other teams pass on Lock and he still slips to you in the 2nd round somehow. QBs go quickly and teams trade up all the time for them. If you believe in Lock, you take him at #5 and don't bat an eye. This isn't fantasy football lol

You can, but you are putting faith in other teams not to pick him then. If you truly believe Lock is the best QB and a franchise guy, you take him and don't look back. He automatically becomes the most important and valuable player in the draft at that point.

In fantasy you have plenty of fall back options if it goes wrong. In real life you might at very best have 2 good starting QBs in the entire draft.

I'm all in on Haskins. If he goes back to school, I trade back as far as possible.

100% agree. I don't wanna trade back too far but if it nets us another first rounder, we good.

I'd trade pretty far back and get the best possible return for 2020. I'd then use our first rounder on an OG/OT. only two of them are currently projected to go in round 1, Cody Ford of Oklahoma and Michael Dieter of Wisconsin.

In this scenario in my head we would trade back into the 1st rd to get Lock or Grier. Most teams want the 5th year option on their QB anyways. Going from 35th pick to 20th shouldn't be ridiculously expensive

Likely would cost pick #35+ 2020 first rounder + a 3rd/4th

It would be extremely expensive. Not to mention you're still hoping they make it to pick 20 AND the team at 20 wants to trade AND you're willing to give up a lot to get him.

I watched McShay's mockdraft thing the other night with Wingo and Kiper on there. They had us slotted at 7th overall and with us picking Herbert out of Oregon if he's there. But then they proceeded to say that he needs a year to sit and his accuracy is a concern.

But what bothers me is that exactly 3 picks later at the 10th spot he has the Giants taking Haskins. And they continue to just gloat about the kid being the most NFL Ready. His monster production, his accuracy, etc.

Doesn't make much sense to me. I guess people really like Herbert's frame and all that. I don't care for that. I don't get caught up on that. But if they both declare for the draft and we pick any QB in the top ten NOT named Haskins we're [BLEEP] stupid. Doesn't matter if they sign a stop gap at QB like Flacco or maybe Manning (Which means they would probably have to jump up to land Haskins or whomever). They still need to take Haskins.

I agree I want nothing to do with Herbert.

The part in bold sounds like Blake Bortles V2.0.

i feel bad for any qb that comes to Jacksonville. the team will ruin him like they did gabbet, and bortles. Bortles is a tough qb,but can't throw the ball. Gabbrat stinks unless he plays againest the jags.
