Foles, Done deal

I'm a long time Eagles fan but I live in Central Florida now....I'll be buying a Nick Foles Jaguars jersey and will be looking forward to coming up and rooting you guys on in a few months!! I have a feeling you won't be disappointed with Foles. He's a true leader and a very good QB. If he gets some weapons around him, with the Jaguars defense, this should be a playoff team next year. Looking forward to it and congrats again! and what if we are? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Hopefully they made some of his guarantees in the form of roster bonus and salary so that by this time next year when everyone is looking for more Pepto Bismol after he puts up a 15 TD 11 int year and the Jags go 6-10 some of those guarantees can be traded away along with a pick like the Texans did with Osweiler.

Those in favor of it, can play the every popular it's not your money card. We must keep in mind... 1. FA is always a gamble, and you always overpay - especially at QB. Some of the numbers for other players at lesser positions were outrageous. Also notable that the playoff teams have made zero moves/signings. So yes, the takeaway from this is that while completely expected and they got their guy, we paid more than even the higher end expectations. He just needs to be a LOT better than Dave's last "guy." 2. We should have expected for them to go after the top QB FA when they made next to zero changes to the organization. That signaled "win NOW" and that simply drafting a QB wasn't going to be enough. Drafting a QB is still highly possible, yet not likely with the first overall. 3. Picks are intact, they should have a fruitful draft to build around Foles. They're going to need to - he's at his best when clean and targets to choose from. 4. I thought we'd go TE then OT, but am now convinced the opposite given the money they paid for Foles. Unless they trade out for more picks, we can almost lock our first pick for OT.

Well, for better or worse this is Nick Foles team now. Let's put some weapons around him and hope for the best.
I have no problem with it. I see this as a golden opportunity to move down from the 7th overall spot to grab more picks to upgrade the offense.
I'm a little late to the party but I'm pretty happy with this at this moment. Clear upgrade, should motivate the locker room, helps the run game by actually having a pass game.
I give him 3 snaps before he's called a bum....nope not even that from the looks of this thread! No more Bortles and no rookie growing pains. Win win. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Welp, I hope this gamble works. That's all I've got right now.
Still wouldn't mind if they drafted a backup this year, just to be safe... (03-11-2019, 06:47 PM)iHaunting Raven Wrote: It is super hilarious guys getting mad at the money they gave him. While I am nowhere near a fan of the move (I am kinda neutral) you guys are crying like if the FO really would use that money wisely... Last season they wasted a lot of money on I'm pretty neutral, too but I'm starting to like it. This post made a lot of sense to me- I think if you add up Moncrief, Hyde, and the totally useless ASJ's money, you get close to Foles' 22 mll instead. Love it. Now add on BB5's money and it's a lot easier to like this. Trade 7 to MIA for 13 and their 2nd rounder, then load up with a 1,2,2,3,3,4.

Too early for Nicknames?
Darling Nicky, anyone?

Jesus Christ now we are paying players more money so that they feel better around the locker room. Worked out great with Bortles, halfway through the season the DEFENSE turned on him even though he was overpaid. What the actual [BLEEP]?! Pay him less and secure the team some cap space/flexibility in the future. If he needs convincing, tell him its so that they can maybe get him more weapons or whatever, or better yet, ask him what other team is willing to pay him 18+ Mio. Freakin' negotiate! But nooo, we dont just overpay players to play well for us, we pay them extra so that they can really feel important in the locker room. I thought the whole point of signing Foles was because he is a natural leader, so why do you have to pay him more to feel more comfortable in that position? Jags are really re inventing the wheel of sports psychology guys (at the expense of having the financial means of actually building a better offense). This is ridiculous.

It just seems like he was a late bloomer who finally turned a corner in Philly. I don't know if it was a maturity thing, a coaching thing or a system thing but something clicked and this guy has really come on. Now can he continue to play at high level in Jacksonville? Who really knows, all I do know is I like his chances with Defilippo as his OC given their history. As far as Haskins goes I am not against it in any way. I would be just as excited if the Jags got him at pick #7 just because of the potential of what he may be able to do in this league. I'll admit I don't follow college football like I do the NFL so I rely on highlight videos and other people's insight of certain players and do a little homework myself to come to a conclusion. Obviously it's a roll of the dice either way. (OBVIOUSLY HAPPY ABOUT THE SIGNING) We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
