2019 NFL Draft Thread

It's even cuter when you call Foles a Franchise QB, when the Eagles just let him walk for an injury prone QB with Knee and Back issues... LOL.

Thats one of the most creative and twisted ways i've heard to describe the Eagles not keeping Foles

One of the only things that I consistently find 'cute' is when other people brand absolutely reasonable takes as being 'cute'.

I was hoping the Jaguars would take T.J. Hockenson in order for the Lions to draft Josh Allen.

Time will tell how it will all pan out.  But I give the Jaguars credit for going for value over more immediate needs on the other side of the ball.

How so? Wentz couldn't finish the season 2 years ago because an ACL injury and he couldn't finish this past season because of a fracture in his back.. That's injury prone and injury issues... Yet the Eagles would still rather roll with that question mark over Foles... That speaks volumes.. They'd rather roll the dice with a question mark, over a "Super Bowl MVP".... Oh yea.. That's because Foles isn't any good and the Eagles know that. The sad part is that most of us already know that as well, but this franchise is gonna have to find out the hard way.

I dont think it's a testament to foles not being any good, but rather that Wentz is a lot younger and has much more upside. I'm not a Foles fan, I belive he is a below average starter in this league. But the decision to keep Wentz is because he is young and has flashed  top 5 QB potential.

Young and already having injury issues... Back injuries don't go away, they only get worse as time goes on. Being 25 and already having a back injury (among others) isn't a good look..

Then you add onto the fact that 1/3 of his game is running around and making things happen... I don't see how anybody can feel fully confident in him being an, at least 16 game starter year in, year out.

And I like Wentz, but it just shows how overrated Foles is that people actually think so highly of him, yet the only team hes ever had success on doesn't think the same.

I tend to agree with Eric1, I had a similar view on the matter of us signing Foles. He won a SB there and they still rather have Wentz plus it will be harder to keep the defensive playmakers together. Its not a great look. But this is the draft thread and I dont want to make this thread about Foles, we have him on the team and the Jaguars need to look forward and put the best players out there. Ive come to terms with it.

Im not sure if Risner falls to us in the second round. Even Ford could be off the board. What do you guys think we will do if that is the case? WR? I dont love it.

Agreed and I'm sorry for getting off topic. We've already beat the Foles drum to death and I apologize for bringing it up again. Like it or not, he's the QB for our team going forward. Even though it rubs me the wrong way.

Back on topic. It's got to be OL or TE in the top of the 2nd round right? I think the WR need falls behind both OL/TE. Late 3rd round/4th round pick seems like the spot for a WR if we draft one imo.

We agree on this point.

To me the heirarchy is

1.  RT
2.  TE
3.  WR
4.  RB/S

Jawaan Taylor still going to be there in that scenario. I really hope 3 RTs dont go ahead of us... I think the CBs, WRs, and Lock could start to come off before the RTs

I honestly don't see any way that all 3 RTs are taken before the Jags pick 6th in this round.

DK, AJ Brown and Deebo all available with Cards and 49ers needing WR help. Byron Murphy and Greedy still available as well with Raiders and Colts needing secondary help.

And if the scenario plays out where all 3 are gone? Take AJ Brown or DK.

Yeah...that was dumb!

No way I rank Jones above Darnold or Rosen...and maybe not even Allen.

I'm not too crazy with what they did at 17, either.

I know NT is a key position for a 3-4, but there are plenty of good NT prospects in this draft class.  But they also need an edge OLB to run their 3-4, and they don't have one.

If they want to stop the run, they are equipped to do so, but I don't see them protecting either of their QBs or opening holes for Barkley from RT.

Yes, there are a few good T prospects still on the board, but I don't think the Giants pick again until the 4th round, so still no edge rusher and still no RT.

I think something has to be mightily wrong with Taylors health or psyche, no way he would have fallen so far. Apparently, some teams have taken him off the board completely. And tbh, I didnt love him as a player (at least not Top 10), so Id rather the Jags look elsewhere (maybe get him in the later rounds if he keeps falling).

@Bullseye: I would agree with that ranking, but the team is obviously drafting according to BPA, and most lists of available players have Oline, WR and DBs as the best rated players left on the board. I want the pick to be Risner, I think it would fill a need and be good value. Any TE would seem like a bit of a reach at our draft position and we are obviously not drafting defense. Fine with Oline!

If our first two picks are Allen and Risner I think that is close to being the best case scenario. Lets make it happen!

I'm hoping for Ford. He is super versatile on the right side of the Oline.

Based upon what I recall of our earlier conversation, the distinction as to the top hierarchy of needs is our view of Ford.

I view Ford as a viable RT, and you view him more as a G. I think we'd both be okay with him as the pick at 38.

Think Cardinals give Murray his RT and college teammate in Ford?

A distinct possibility.

I'm also hearing from Frangie that the Rosen deal is close, so they may have Miami's 2nd round pick by the time the draft starts back up, which could impact who they take.

I just have a really weird feeling that they are going to go Safety @ 38.

While I want one of the OL (Risner/Ford/Taylor)....I could see them grabbing Adderley or Gardner-Johnson as that rangy S to "complete" the back end of the defense....and as crazy as it sounds if Byron Murphy/Greedy Williams is the BAP on the board I could see them grabbing them as well with the thought of Bouye/Hayden being cut for cap.

I would rank them:

Ford
Risner
Taylor
Metcalf
Brown
