Colin Kaepernick Forces Nike To Cancel ‘Betsy Ross Flag’ Sneaker
|
Just my opinion, but it's a very bad move by Nike. Colin Kaepernick isn't relevant anymore, he's just another young angry black male that thinks that he's owed something. There is/was nothing wrong with the shoes. I might have considered buying a pair if not for the fact that they are produced in China.
Regardless of what a has-been/wanna-be NFL player has to say about it, fundamentally there is nothing wrong with the Betsy Ross Flag. This flag was flown by young men (some in their teens) in order to create this country and eventually make it the greatest country in the world. The flag is all about the holiday that we are all going to celebrate this weekend, that being the Independence of The United States. It has absolutely 0% to do with slavery. Once people actually think with their minds rather than their hearts we might get some form of stability. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. Look, Nike understands that all black people in America agree with Kaep, so they're just adjusting their market strategy to capture an entire demographic, just like the Democratic Party.

"Kaepernick told the company it shouldn’t sell a shoe with a symbol that he and others consider offensive because the flag marked an era when slavery existed in the United States, according to the Wall Street Journal."
So according to this logic everything that was around when slavery existed is offensive should be eradicated. Riiiight. You sure your source is accurate? I'm pretty sure he just knows about Florida flag statutes and is looking out for Nike. We show less advertisements to registered users. Why are right-wingers so easily triggered?
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.

Another right-winger complaining about the actions of a private company. Must be a socialist. You and AOC would probably get along just fine. You right-wingers do love your straw men.

It's pretty funny that Kaepernick relates the Ross flag to slavery while shilling shoes made by literal sweatshop slaves who get 15 cents an hour so that he can make 8 million a year. Self awareness will never be the hallmark of lefty SJWs.
And of course the Ghetto Culture of Modern America laps it up like the good little sheep they are. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Complaining?
Nope. Just giving the opinion that it's stupid to listen to a has-been, never-was.
Who cares if they complain? If I don't like the way something is being done, I have the right to complain about it, whether it's a private company, government, or individual poster. It's one of the beauties of free speech.
Triggered is different than complaining. You probably know that, but it's often conflated with complaining, when the reality is that it should be connected to some type of trauma. No one here is having PTSD over Nike's cancellation of the Betsy Ross shoe. They just think it's dumb.
When he was just saying, "I deserve a chance to play, regardless of if you disagree with me politically" I was with him. I've always thought he was a good player.
Didn't mean I ever cared what he thought, politically. And certainly doesn't mean I care about his opinion regarding the images on a pair of sneakers. I do agree, in general, that there needs to be more public accountability for police who shoot unarmed people, and that body cameras can help. Colin should just stay in that lane.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

The good news is that people aren't pretending that the guy knows how to play football anymore and trying to strong arm owners into signing him.

Silly move by Nike, but since it's a private business, it's their move to make. So who cares?
Fighting alleged modern day oppression by seeking to oppress other's abilities to express their very same freedoms.
He's no different nor better than what he's standing (or kneeling) for. Double standards are double standards. Regardless of your race. This eye for an eye mentality needs to go away. Especially during the age of spin and with instant gratification and cameras everywhere to sensationalize things that simply do not deserve to be sensationalized. "Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow. What you need is someone strong to guide you." - That's today's thinking for you. With or without the religious aspect to it. Pathetic. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky.
