This is really what cuts to the heart of my thinking. Young players are probably overwhelmed by the negotiations and the dollar signs. An agent telling him to hold out for a bit more may, or may not, serve the interest of the player. Which then lends to the argument of whether agents unduly influence young players for the money. While I'm sure most agents are honest and considerate of the player's future, like any profession which involves big money transactions and commissions, there's always the possibility they're not.

In light of the details of the teams offer I will no longer hold the F.O. at fault if a deal does not get done. They made a offer that fit his skill level and position among his peers and they offered it to him early. His camp must take note of that fact. I sure want him around and motivated as obviously he is a rare talent but at what point is the cut off?

I can see both sides, and I think Frangie said it the other day, if it doesn't get done, you can't blame either side really. As you said, the team offered him a very fair amount of money, offered it early, and in turn preferred to keep the deal shorter. 

Yan is looking for that long term deal to provide himself more security. The money is probably good at this point, or close enough, for him.

Neither side is wrong at this point. Just hope they come to an agreement.

In a round about way, I also thinking keeping Yan will go a LONG way towards Jalen wanting to stay here.

You can absolutely blame the Jags if they don't get it done. There is no excuse for not re-signing your in his prime homegrown pass rusher for a contract in line with market standards,  especially when your cap is plenty malleable to allow it+ he wants to be here long term.  

I still think it gets done, we just need to take the baby gloves off for this front office.

I thought that was why we cut Fowler, Malik, Gipson, and Church last year.  So we can keep our in house talent but we signed Foles.  Hopefully we can keep Yann, and sign Myles and Jalen next year, when we cut more players.  I had a different view and wanted to keep Blake so we can have more cap and then draft a rookie for even more space while other cuts are made but hey.  Foles better be THE GUY, unless we are still going QB next year when the better class comes out.
