Gardner Flint Minshew II - (merged threads)

It would have been a fine showing against a bad team with a quality defense like the Jets next week. But this was possibly the worst defense in the league missing several of their best starters on top of that, and in picture perfect weather. He should have been better if he is to be anything more than a bridge QB.

Its doesnt matter what the stats say. This isnt college, this is the NFL.  They are all good, especially when you have Geno Atkins wrecking havoc on your oline and you keep starting on you 2 yard line

Minshew was fine. Pass protection was terrible pretty much all game. He.missed a couple out there but the team won. And that's all that counts.

Yes, let's absolutely be super critical of a rookie who was thrown into the fire and has a 10 td/2int ratio and has shown the ability to win coming from behind and on the road.

Makes sense to me. Let's just write him off and look forward to the draft, eh?

First two or three drives were butthole tight on our goal line. Still managed 27 points.

Good grief folks.

The "rookie" played like a "Pro" today.
The bungles as a team came to play and play hard.
Thank goodness the dalton got rattled by the Jags D and things turned big time
in the fourth.
Touch and go for a while ....and the freakin' refs tried to help the bungles out.
BUT....the Jags got the W!
Because Jaguars is our mantra  Wallbash

This is the first time I've said anything critical of him, and merely saying that he should have been better today is hardly being critical either. No one said to write him off, so please stop inventing drama.

Leading up to the game it was all "omg he has played the toughest pass defense schedule so far and it's the easiest from now on he's going to feast." We all expected him to go off against one of the worst defenses in the league with several of their best starters out. Sorry I'm not going to change my expectations simply because we won and he had a few easy INTs that were dropped. We were expecting very good, we were right to expect very good, and we got meh at best.

Minshew is better than both Trubisky and Garroppolo.

Once he can consistently see the field better, I think he’s going to be a real force at QB.

Maybe he should've played better today, even though he outplayed Dalton.

He should've also played a hell of a lot worse against the Tacks and Broncos. Folks can always find something to complain about, I guess.

Half of y'all wanted McGough, so I'll take your opinions for what they're worth - entertainment of the SMH variety.

I’m sure there are some reads and throws that Minshew would like to have back.

He missed a wide open Conley on what would have been a huge gain but instead, he ran.

However, the Jags won and that’s all that matters. It was a frustrating first half but Yan (Pay the man) and company turned it on in the 2nd half.

Great win and it’s on to the Jets and a real QB.

It's his 5th official start. He's a 6th RD pick. Battled a knee injury. Battled a groin injury.

He didn't cost you the game today. If he plays like this against the Jets they'll win by at least 6.

Some of you on here act like he should be Tom Brady by now. Good god. Pickapart all you want. It's pathetic.

Better than any rookie we had at the position. Leftwich? Garbage. Gabbert? Steaming pile of garbage. Bortles? About as tipsy topsy as any QB we ever had.

I guess some of you have really bad amnesia over those horrible years.

Through 6 starts, Minshew has already equaled Peyton Manning’s win total as a rookie FWIW

The Jets with Luke Faulk. Very bad.

The Jets with Sam Darnold? Good.

Minshew will need to play better to beat the Jets. He was below 50% completion. Not sure why you’re over looking them.

I'd agree with you. Probably his 2nd worst game of the year but against overwhelmingly the least talented defense.

Nothing to panic over yet but I hope he picks it up a bit.

You say that after one game with Darnold.... personally I think the jags defense is better then Dallas's defense....if the jags defense plays like they did today I believe we win.....I believe Dallas fell for a trap game also....today was ours and we succeeded....

Yeah, compared to the horrors of some of the QBs Jacksonville has already, i'd take Gardner over all of those guys (Brunell an obvious exception). Gabbert, Bortles, Leftwich, even Garrard has some really bad stretches of play. [BLEEP] henne. I feel like there's another i'm not remembering at the moment...

Gardner's gonna be fine. And if he isn't? Then aren't you glad to have him as a backup compared to so many other dudes who don't win multiple ROTW awards? It's not like he didn't earn those every week he won one. Schedule be damned.

Brady's had some bad games this year, and a few of them against teams i'm sure Pats fans would deem significantly inferior to them. I doubt they're ready to retire Brady yet.

If Minshew starts making really bad decisions in the next several games that affects ball security - copious amounts of fumbles and interceptions, poor passes way overshot or undershot, etc. - then I'll be thinking he's a backup or bridge guy at best. But save for the Saints game (which, by the way, the absolutely blew the [BLEEP] up out of the Bears today) and today, Gardner's had some real solid moments of excellent quarterbacking. I think because of what he showed in a game against Tennessee, those quick TD strikes, we just accepted that is who he is and that's how it ought to be going forward, but it's never that simple.

And again, Foles would get killed behind this line. We're talking about a guy who hasn't started all 16 games since when again? I'm honestly asking because I forget. Foles has had some really, really [BLEEP] years before he won a superbowl. He's also had some great moments too. It's called DEVELOPMENT.

Not overlooking the Jets. But Dallas did for sure. As the team playing tonight is clearly different and prepared against a divisional rival.

They're still a 1 - 4 club. And they'll be coming here on a short week after they play the Patriots on MNF. I like the way we're running on offense and playing defense.

The Jets are still average on offense. Average on defense. I think as Minshew heals up his accuracy will pick back up as well. I think he'll have a cleaner game this next Sunday coming up. It'll probably look a lot like that TNF game against the tacks.
