At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.
 

I don't think they're forcing our hand at all.  I think they "attacked" us so they could tell their people they got revenge.  But if reports are true that they didn't really hit anything or kill anyone, it's a perfect opportunity to de-escalate the situation and avoid a very expensive and pointless war.  I think they might have intentionally avoided hitting anyone or anything important, so as not to force Trump to back up his threats.

This is the best possible scenario, as long as it doesn't embolden the US to further flex its muscles with the idea that nothing can go wrong, and that everyone is going to continue to be intimidated.  It's an opportunity for everyone to get out of this crisis with minimal damage.

Iran has backed down.  As long as Trump understands this, everything will turn out okay.

Now that I see there is no casualties and they tipped us off ahead of time, I think this was a face saving maneuver. They don't want real conflict. It seems like the old adage of speak softly and carry a big stick has changed to speak loudly and throw tiny pebbles.

Regardless of if they tipped anyone off, they launched the missiles from inside Iran and only at military bases. So our satellites picked up the heat signature right away and our highly trained professional military were all hunkered down in about a minute.  They could have aimed at softer targets if they wanted to, and they probably will, unless their whole attitude about international terrorism changes somehow. I wonder if our convoys are vulnerable to this type of rocket. I hope not.

It's interesting to see the commentary on Foxnews.com.  Half of them seem to be saying we have to strike back hard, and the other half seem to be saying Iran has backed down, and we should not strike back hard.  One side or the other will disappear as soon as they figure out what Trump is going to do, because there is one thing you can count on Fox News doing, and that is, uniting behind Trump no matter what. 

The fact that Trump is going to address the country tonight on the subject worries me.  There's no need for that at this point.  Addressing the country on TV usually signals something very important.   I wish he would cancel the nationwide address and let this whole situation cool down.  He killed the guy, Iran shot a few missiles and missed us probably intentionally, and now there's no need to turn this into a war.

The Ayatollahs have threaded the needle on this situation.  They can claim they hit us back, when they really didn't.   Let's hope Trump has the wisdom to see this.  He campaigned on getting the US out of endless middle eastern wars.   He can declare victory if he must, but I hope to God he has the wisdom to stop what would be a majorly expensive war that would damage the world economy and cause a lot of suffering in the United States as well as Iran.

I think you are confused. I think you mean Obama loved giving terrorist nations billions of dollars to build their bombs. Including the ones you saw tonight.

Considering Trump referenced it yet again this morning and it's been a constant talking point of the right since he came into office, I'd like to point out two inaccuracies: 

• No $150b payout ever occurred. Iran's previously frozen assets were released as part of the multinational agreement signed in 2015 as a result of Iran committing to restrain their nuclear development program. It was theirs to begin with. 
  
• $400m was transferred from the US Treasury (with the understanding that another $1.4b in interest would be paid later) as an IOU from the 1970s - one where we never made good on paying for military equipment because of Iran's instability at the time. 
  

Regardless, I have no doubt they're now using those funds to develop weapons.

Like many others, this was the only instance I saw, outside of an Iranian state TV statement, of "casualties" being discussed. To my knowledge, the Pentagon hasn't issued a formal statement. Stein is an Israeli journalist. Most everything on his feed starts with a #BREAKING hashtag

You have obviously not been on a military base either here in the states or overseas.  There are no "bunkers" for personnel (for the most part).  Your "brother of a friend" probably said something along the lines of being at general quarters (or whatever is similar in the army) for an extended period of time.

It has been reported that since the elimination of the terrorist (Soleimani) forces in the region have been on a heightened alert for attacks on bases.  This "attack" was expected thus a heightened military stance was ordered.  They don't "hunker down in bunkers" when that happens.

TRM is pretty correct.  This whole "attack" was for the Iranian regime to "save face" and try to "prove" to the people there that they "stood up" to the U.S.

I think that The President handled the situation in the best way possible.  The stock market surely seems to agree.

To me, a bomb shelter and a bunker or the same type of structure. To the civilian sisters of service members, they are the same thing probably. For the military they might be similar, but really two different things.  I don't know. That's fine. It doesn't change the fact that you can't do any actual fighting out of either one.

So I tuned into Rachel Maddow for an eye roll and a chuckle and what do I see? A litany of democrats railing against the President's orders to eliminate a person responsible for the deaths of 600 U.S. military personnel and the maiming of thousands more. So an honest question for you non-Trumpers out there. 
Do you honestly believe this pettiness will play to the average voter who sees nothing but good come out of killing a known terrorist? I hope the dems double down on this deranged stupidity. They are completely undermining their credibility to all except the facial tic TDS crowd.
