It doesn't grant him anything immediately, but if he has another big season of sacks, pressures, and forced fumbles and his team goes on to the postseason -  the publicity he will gain will translate into endorsements FAR easier and more abundantly than it would playing in Jacksonville. 

The stability thing is about 2021. Do you have any confidence the Jags will have the same coaching staff next year?  Do you even want that?  

I'm not trying to advocate Yannick's side of this thing as righteous. I'm merely trying to identify what I imagine to be his reasoning. I've hoped all along the two sides would iron out a deal and Yan is one of my favorite players. I'm dismayed at his imminent departure. But players have historically opted for larger markets when afforded the opportunity for good reason, and I'm sure those reasons factor into Yan's decision making process as well.

I saw a discussion by Brunell and Pepper on the news yesterday and they did not buy that argument.  And I kind of tend to agree.  He might get some local endorsements, but unless you are JJ Watt or Michael Strahan, how many big money national endorsements are there going to be?  Generally a DE is not going to be the face of the franchise for any major endorsement deals unless he is a perennial All-Pro.  And I just don't see that happening.  If he thinks this, I think it is just another example of him overvaluing himself.

It doesn't have to be some high profile national TV ad for him to profit. 

It could be the difference in free shoes from company X while in Jax to free shoes plus a $300K check for wearing that brand exclusively playing in a larger market with a greater % of TV broadcast.  The more exposure, the more ammo his agent has to wheel and deal with, and I'd wager his agent is in his ear about this stuff. Every small opportunity adds up and these guys and their agents covet the added exposure whether they are able to parlay it or not. 

When it comes down to it, I firmly believe the primary motivation in all of this is simply Ngakoue wanting out of what he views as a dysfunctional organization. (not endorsement opportunity) 
I wish we were privy to all the details that have resulted in him feeling that way. I have a feeling these threads would be a lot more open and shut in nature.

It's not about the city. Not directly anyway. 
It's not about the fans. (except the fact there will likely be more of them at his next destination)
Playing two games overseas for the foreseeable future is an element for sure.  But not THE element. 

PRIMARILY, it's about wanting out of a dysfunctional organization that is on the cusp of another staffing re-boot in 2021 wherein there's no telling who he'll play under and in what scheme. 

Allen Robinson cited playing under 3 coordinators in his time here as a major factor in his decision to move elsewhere, and the F.O. fluctuation along with the very real possibility of a lame duck staff in 2020 must be affecting Yannick similarly. Why not try to land in a more stable environment with potentially a greater fanbase and poularity to parlay into endorsement money?

Has anybody other than Warsh been his coordinator?

I still think it's that he expected us to open with 5/110 or something thereabouts, and when the team said they would franchise and negotiate after, he quit. That would explain the tweets about ppl trying to explain the business side of the negotiation, but at this point I don't even care if they try.

Upon further review of this situation I have come to the conclusion that Khan has to nip this [BLEEP] in the bud. For Yan it must be tag and no trade. Play here or sit. That's it. He cannot afford to pull a Sweet Jalen and fake injury. He may hold out training camp or something but he will not lose the over million dollar game day checks that the tag will bring him. His very public screw you to the city and our team stated he does not wish a long term deal. It didn't state that he would not play on the tag.

Lol yeah this is definitely the way we should handle it if we want to change the perception of our franchise.

This is where I think Caldwell can show that he's learned something. I would not budge with the Giants at the asking table for Ngakoue. Do I expect them to fork over their 4th overall selection? Of course not. 

But to even get me to sit down at the table to talk about a trade you would have to instantly have the 36th overall pick involved. I would also want their 3rd round compensation pick for them losing Landon Collins in free agency last year. 

I would also entertain the idea of swapping 1st's for Ngakoue. 

So. Here's the deal. I'll give you Ngakoue and the 9th overall pick for your 4th overall pick and 36th overall pick or 3rd RD comp pick. 

OR. 

I'll take your 36th pick, your 3rd RD comp pick and a future pick in next year's draft. Minimum pick in next year's draft would need to be a 2nd RD pick.

I get the logic of just tagging him and making him play next season but we will just be here again next year and do we really want to pay $20m to a guy that clearly wants out. We have enough guys not earning their pay.

Plus look at the Ramsey situation. Make yourself enough of a problem and youll get your way.
