I completely agree with this sentiment.

Well that's Hays just being Captain Obvious at this point. The obvious issue though is that we've already gone down this road in 2013 with Dave Caldwell in charge and he was given free pass after free pass after free pass. 

None of this is going to matter with the same people in charge making these decisions. They'll just bury us into a two year hole that we may or may not recover from. You can't change your identity nor your culture when you continue to hold onto the past. 

We've failed in the past. Multiple times. So why are we still holding onto those who are responsible for some of these failures? Caldwell should have been shown the door along with Marrone and Wash when Coughling was fired. 

These are all old holdovers from Gus Bradley's tenure. This is why the team has continued to sink. And the fact that Khan genuinely believes that Coughlin was the problem and not these other butt wipes is astoundingly bad. How [BLEEP] blind can he be? How [BLEEP] out of touch can he be? 

You can't get ahead with one foot in rebuild mode and one foot in win now mode. I completely get that. But you already KNOW you won't get ANYWHERE with these [BLEEP] heads in control of things. And it's either a blatant set up to drive down fan interest here locally to cut loose with more ease and less strain. 

Or we truly have the most clueless, out of touch and delusional [BLEEP] owner in the NFL at the moment. Either way you slice it? It's terrifying.

Because Khan is an idiot.

It all depends on Khan's objective.  If it's to con the fanbase and the NFL to make a move to London, he's a genius.  He's alienating the players and the fans.  Good players can't wait to get out of here, and by moving a 2nd home game to London he's made the Jaguars even less competitive.  Keep the Caldwell/Marrone disaster going to destroy any possibility of hope.

To what end? If he's trying to con the fanbase you have it backwards. It would be better to keep the team competitive and in Jacksonville to sustain ticket sales until he wants to move. 

What he's doing now is driving the ticket base away from the team. More of a possible foreshadowing than anything.

It's not like he needs fan approval to move the team.

And what are you basing this off of? Daves excellent draft history? His winning records in previous years or Marrones great coaching?

Why are we allowing Caldwell and this inept FO another year to make the picks while we have good draft capital, while they are on a "1 year trial mode"?

Coughlin was absolutely an impediment to this organization while he was here but I think we should have cleaned house from top to bottom - because this might lend more time for the FO to let the picks pan-out in the coming years.

We don't know they are on a one year trial mode.
However, they pitched their plan to Khan and he bought it... whatever that may be...

It's looking like the plan was "clear cap, be aggressive in free agency, stock pile picks and get playmakers in early rounds of draft to maintain competitiveness in 2020"
a .500 record probably buys Doug and Caldwell the last year of their contracts to make the playoffs.

Which on paper 5 wins '18, 6 wins '19, 8 wins '20... wouldn't be terrible for what essentially is an overhaul, if not a complete rebuild.
If they flounder to another 5 or 6 win season the plug is likely pulled and the job SHOULD be relatively easy for the next GM and coach.

I get that people are still salty that Caldwell and Doug were kept on... but it is what it is at this point.
And his track record for drafts hasn't been perfect but I'd say Caldwell has drafted better in recent years than in his first few... with the capital we have in this draft, and if they clear enough cap to make a few key moves in FA, it really might not be the doom and gloom many fans are expecting.

Just think, if Yan is traded for another first, we could have 3 first rounders, no Ramsey money and no Yan money taking up the books. Cleared the Dareus and Bouye hits, likely cutting the Lee and Swaim and Jake Ryan contracts... If somehow they move Foles that gets rid of that distraction, even though it doesn't save us much on the cap this season....

I'm not really optimistic all the dominoes fall right for us... but in theory, this might not be as bad as we're expecting.
We won 6 games last year in complete dysfunction, with a 6th round rookie QB running for his life a lot... if some of the dysfunction is cleaned up, Ramsey drama gone, Allen getting more snaps, Run D shored up with a couple draft picks/veteran FAs.... Offensive line slightly better, any sort of TE weapon, No Foles to force into lineup.. 8-8 isn't out of the realm of possibility. In 2 years we could be completely removed from the stain that is a me-first team handcuffed by old man Coughlin.

My mind flits between optimistic and pessimistic. On the one hand we have a good young QB and some good young players around him, if he takes a leap forward in year 2, why can't we be significantly better? On the other hand, we are in the process of losing key players from a team that already had serious shortcomings, and expecting a huge jump from Minshew is probably just wishful thinking.

I'll wait and see how the offseason unfolds before making any hard and fast predictions, but I do think the realistic viewpoint probably lies closer to the pessimistic prediction.

Could not have said this better myself. I feel like if all the fans would pay attention to the fact that Dave has been here since 2013, and realize that there is a reason all of our best players are gone, we would all be on the same page and force Khan to do something but with everyone making excuses trying to blame the players and just Coughlin, it gives him room to say let's try it this way. Just fire everyone and start over, that's it!
