Seattle has fallen.....

CHOP is finally gone. I have a hard time grasping why it was allowed to go on so long.

Probably the local government wanted to avoid creating an incident where things spiraled out of control with resulting charges of police brutality, etc.

The governor told me this was a summer of love. What happened?

Running a city out of fear will lead to nothing good.

I don't know if that was what they were thinking, but if it had been my decision, I would have done it the way the Seattle authorities did it.  Tempers were so raw a couple of weeks ago.  And we don't know, but there was some possibility that some of the rebels were looking for an incident to spark a riot.  Sometimes, it's best to just let things cool down.  It wasn't like they took over the whole city.

I have thought this as well. The biggest issue I have had with it is innocent people who live and work in the zone being severely affected by the whole thing. They are suing the city. I'd do the same thing.

Perhaps, but I get the feeling this has set them up for more unreasonable demands ‘or else‘.

I agree.  The criminals should have been arrested and removed by any means necessary right from the start.

It's a shame that hard working people are going to have to clean up the mess that the children left.

I went to Harvard.

Well, I wasn't actually a student. I was a tourist, but still, I went there a couple of years ago.

Going to Harvard would have been something to be proud of at a time in the not so distant past.

Nah, just seeing the town.  Boston's a nice town full of history.

I marched in a parade there and was able to see some of it when we pulled in for a port visit.

Funny thing how sailors are treated differently between New York and Boston. In New York we were treated to beers and cheers. Bostonians were nice but they would practically shove you out of the way to take a tour of the ship.

I dated a Princeton grad for a few years.

Trivia nights sucked (for me), and west coast farm boys were suuuuuuuuuuper popular at her class reunions.

When are people going to realize they need to shut up? Social media has given folks a soapbox to discuss whatever is on their minds and that's fine as long as they understand that their actions cause reactions. She wasn't fired because she was defending BLM, she was fired because she ran her mouth with threats. An employer doesn't care if it's specific or in general, they care about employees who represent their business. She needs to shut up and accept that she was wrong, not her employer.

The snowflake is learning that there are consequences for her actions/words in the real world.  No "safe space" or "free speech zone" for her!
