So much happiness over 3 fifth round picks, 3 sixth rounds picks and 3 seventh rounders.......what ever the actual count will be after these "3rd day picks" are added we will net only garbage. TOP tier talent is at the top....not the bottom of the draft.

LOVE THEM JAGUARS!

We obviously aren't trying to win now or anywhere in the near future. Monroe wasn't the best but he was a top 10 LT and u don't trade that for peanuts.

It was already scary bad. I'll wait to see picks before offering judgement.

Quote:Knarnn, you keep freaking out and you still don't know what the picks are. Stop acting like a little girl and wait till we know the picks before criticizing. Geez the whining that goes on. 3rd day picks!?!? Oh my gosh, no!!!!!! Oh wait, that is just a rumor? I don't care, I must still whine even if the info might be incorrect.
I tried to tell you that this team was being cheap. The evidence is in your face and you keep defending them. The same person who reported the trade also reported 3rd day picks. That's a pretty credible source if you ask me.

Is a top 10 LT worth "multiple 3rd day picks?" Considering the fact that just by letting him walk in FA we were guaranteed a 3rd rounder.

Not to mention the fact that we literally just wasted the 2# overall picks to replace an already GREAT LT.

Keep defending the front office. New faces, same results.

In Caldwell I trust.

Quote:Every report on the trade mentions only late round picks.

Sorry, but even if he wasn't part of the long term plans, this kind of deal, if accurate, smacks of something I've been saying this front office wasn't about. Trading players who might be costly and replacing them with bargain basement players makes me wonder about where this team is headed. Sorry, but LT is a premium position. If you've got a good one you're looking to trade, bending over for pennies on the dollar in value is questionable to say the least.

Hope the reports are wrong, but it's been some pretty credible outlets.

THIS

This type of move is very scary. Either Caldwell doesn't know what he's doing, or something worse...

the only holes in your argument there would be that since the last labor deal, theres really no really expensive picks in the draft anymore....

the problem here isn't replacing Monroe with draft picks.....its replacing Monroe with such a bad return of draft picks. The salary difference between a 2nd rounder and a 3rd day pick isn't giant.

I see the problem being Caldwell simply getting fleeced.

We definitely weren't guaranteed a 3rd rounder for one. Those are pretty hard to get. It's possible that he would have netted the last pick of the third round, but probably more likely that he would've gotten the last pick of the 4th round. Dave got multiple third day picks...probably a 4 and more. Hard to say that is worse.

Would it be easier to replace Monroe with at best a 4th round comp. pick, or this trade?

Yeah you have to loose multiple quality players to get a 3rd round pick.

i know but we have the cap space to franchise him and get better than 3rd day picks. i mean right? right?

He's in over his head or he's being told to sink the team, either way it's not good for us.

The latest report I read is the trade is for a 1st and 3rd round pick.

But that can't be true, because so many Junior GMs on this board say the Ravens would not be that stupid. And I certainly rely on you guys, who are so incredibly easily played.

So many crying about responses from so many. So many suckers.

Last time #Jaguars traded with Ravens, Newsome acquired multiple picks for #8 overall pick that Newsome used to eventually land Joe Flacco.

Just got off phone with Eugene Monrie. It's bittersweet deal for him. His wife's from Baltimore area and he's headed to a winner. ...

If it's minimum two picks next year from Baltimore, #Jaguars now have 10 in 2014 draft.
