Jags release Fournette!!

Yan giving up $6 M in guaranteed money just to get out of Jacksonville. The Jags will likely end up with 2-4 wins this season, but I can see Khan conning us all again and keeping both DC and DM despite their proven history of failure. Fournette was the missing piece for the 2017 team. They were 1 quarter away from the Super Bowl. If the Jags had picked Mahomes, they probably dont make the playoffs in 2017. That said, I wish they'd have picked Mahomes too. Also, in Dave's defense, picking Fournette was probably Coughlin's idea. 2013-2016 drafts, Dave gets the credit/blame. Not his fault if 2 of the 3 pro bowlers he selected in 2016 didn't want to stay. 2017-2019 - blame Tom. 2020 class, all Dave again. If those guys don't look promising as rookies, let's fire Dave. If they show promise, let's ride with Dave.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Today is also Coughlin's 74th birthday, which makes the cut of Fournette just a little bit extra funny. Maybe it's one last "up yours" directed at Coughlin for destroying this franchise for a 2nd time.
Not sure why people are upset. There's no value for rbs who have no vision, can't break tackles and low playmaking ability.
He was decent at gaining half a yard on the goalie by jumping over the line. That was it. (08-31-2020, 10:24 PM)lastonealive Wrote: Not sure why people are upset. I think the problem lies in that he was selected with 4th pick above McCaffrey, Mahomes, Watson and whoever else you want to throw in there

Here's a really good summary of the whole affair:
https://www.si.com/nfl/jaguars/news/5-ob...t-it-means The failure of the Fournette draft pick can not be understated "First things first: it needs to be properly contextualized just how poor of a decision it was to select Leonard Fournette No. 4 overall, both when it happened in 2017 and now, three years later. Fournette is not at all at fault for the Jaguars selecting him where they did, but it can't be ignored that not only is the pick one of the worst in team history, it may be one of the worst picks in all of NFL history considering the lack of return on investment, the players selected after him and the flawed process the Jaguars used to even get to that point." And it continues from there. (09-01-2020, 05:16 AM)The Real Marty Wrote: Here's a really good summary of the whole affair: Wow, talk about hyperbole. Calling a guy with nearly 1700 all purpose yards last year the worst pick in NFL history is harsh. He was definitely selected too high and his lack of field vision has hindered him but he can be productive in the right system. He's not even the worst first rounder in Jaguars history, that award has to go to Derrick Harvey.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

He was the one that caused all the problems with Yannick and Jalan he was the one who wanted Fournett to construct an old style offense. I’m not defending Caldwell But let’s put the blame where it lies.

Here is a clip of his 245 yard game vs Denver last season. You don't gain over 1,000 rushing yards and over 500 receiving yards by gaining a half a yard at a time unless you have a total of 3,000 rushes and receptions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeODXCtrWqM (09-01-2020, 09:05 AM)HURRICANE!!! That's cool but he had like 9 100 yard rushing games in his career here. Having one big day here and there isn't really substantial. Where did all these LF lovers come from? This board has straight trashed the dude pretty much since he got here. Now everyone is butt hurt he was released. You guys are too funny. We show less advertisements to registered users. Especially an "old school" style back. But Matt Jones, Soward, Harvey, Williams... there have been plenty of bad 1st rounders that are probably worse than 4net (09-01-2020, 09:36 AM)rollerjag Wrote:(09-01-2020, 05:48 AM)hb1148 Wrote: Wow, talk about hyperbole. They just had trouble with the bottle, etc. My lawn guy could put a better rush on the passer than Harvey. ;-)

I was going to say that a very long highlight reel could be made of Fournette being tackled by an arm or bouncing off the backs of his blockers with a gaping hole to the left or right.

Fournette is not the worst RB by any means, but he also isn't the best, and that's what you should be getting at 4 overall if you draft a RB.
