How can Dave Caldwell still have a job after this fiasco?  1st round bust after 1st round bust.  Fournette over Mahomes and Watson.  Extending BB5. Yan giving up $6 M in guaranteed money just to get out of Jacksonville.  The Jags will likely end up with 2-4 wins this season, but I can see Khan conning us all again and keeping both DC and DM despite their proven history of failure.

Fournette was the missing piece for the 2017 team.  They were 1 quarter away from the Super Bowl.  If the Jags had picked Mahomes, they probably dont make the playoffs in 2017.
That said, I wish they'd have picked Mahomes too.
Also, in Dave's defense, picking Fournette was probably Coughlin's idea.  2013-2016 drafts, Dave gets the credit/blame.  Not his fault if 2 of the 3 pro bowlers he selected in 2016 didn't want to stay.  2017-2019 - blame Tom.  2020 class, all Dave again.  If those guys don't look promising as rookies, let's fire Dave.  If they show promise, let's ride with Dave.

If other backs are performing better in this offense, what's the point in keeping the highest paid back on the roster if he will only have limited use?

This. There's a lot of hand wringing over this move. From an outsider perspective, yes, it was a wasted top 10 pick. That said, Fournette was clearly a Coughlin draft pick. This was a strong move by Dave. He should have done this a year earlier with Bortles. Admitting one's mistakes and promptly moving on is a sign of a good GM and a good man.

Today is also Coughlin's 74th birthday, which makes the cut of Fournette just a little bit extra funny. Maybe it's one last "up yours" directed at Coughlin for destroying this franchise for a 2nd time.

I think the problem lies in that he was selected with 4th pick above McCaffrey,  Mahomes,  Watson and whoever else you want to throw in there

Wow, talk about hyperbole. Calling a guy with nearly 1700 all purpose yards last year the worst pick in NFL history is harsh. He was definitely selected too high and his lack of field vision has hindered him but he can be productive in the right system. He's not even the worst first rounder in Jaguars history, that award has to go to Derrick Harvey.

Lets Be honest here it was not a Caldwells busT it was a Coughlin bust. He was the one that caused all the problems with Yannick and Jalan he was the one who wanted Fournett to construct an old style offense. I’m not defending Caldwell But let’s put the blame where it lies.

Indeed. Fournette was bad but mostly because you don't need to take a RB top ten anymore. Especially an "old school" style back. 
But Matt Jones, Soward, Harvey, Williams... there have been plenty of bad 1st rounders that are probably worse than 4net

This is a very accurate statement.  Fournette is not the worst RB by any means, but he also isn't the best, and that's what you should be getting at 4 overall if you draft a RB.
