Sewell at 2. Trade #20(ish) and a 3rd(?) to go up to 13-15 range and get "your" guy.

There's still a lot of college season left, not to mention all the pre draft stuff... Wonder how many QB needy teams will be in the top 15?
Jets, Jags, Pats, Denver maybe, Atlanta perhaps, Giants maybe (I think they stick with Jones)...
Based on the draft order right now... I think only 2 QBs will be taken in the top 10 for sure, if we don't draft one at 2. Jets and Skins. Carolina and ATL are possibilities at 9 and 10, but no sure thing. Then there's Detroit and Minnesota. I don't think Stafford is the problem in Detroit and I think Minny is stuck with Cousins' contract for one more season iirc. New England and Denver are next at 13 and 14, so I think if there's a particular guy they want at that point, you gotta trade up with Detroit or Minny.

Chances are though... if it's a new regime... if they deem QB a need (they should) and if they have any of the QBs rated high enough, they'll take one at 2. Whichever one they have on their board. Whether it is Fields or Trask or Jones or Wilson.... who knows.

Guess it is very dependent on who is working the office and staff come that time. What their tastes in offensive philosophy are and what have you.

I hate trading up. I'd rather trade down. I don't see any players in the next draft that I would trade up for. I'd rather use all of our current draft picks to fill the many, many needs we have.

Without getting Lawrence a dream draft for me would be Sewell, and Pitts with our first 2 picks and then trade back into the 1st for Trask.  Our offense would be built.  Then I'd go defense if the value is there with the rest of our picks

How does that address the God awful defense we have? Our top 3 picks all on offense?

We have more cap space than any team in the league.  You get 1 or 2 guys in FA, you expect the young guys on defense to improve, and firing Wash and bringing in a new scheme could do wonders

I don't think think next year is fair, it will be a rookie QB and we all know TE take longer than any other position to make an impact. It would still be an excellent duo to draft and hope that we are ready to compete for the division in year 2 or 3 though.

We have lots of picks... We see how impactful it was this year to have lots of picks and not move up the draft with those picks.

I think if it's for the right guy moving up from the 20s to get an impact player isn't so bad.
I wouldn't want to trade up from, for instance, 5 to 3, because it costs so much and I feel those types of moves don't usually merit it.

If our new GM has a guy rated highly that is there for the taking at say 13, I'm totally for them trading up from 22.

Per drafting offense... well... everyone keeps talking about BAP vs need and complaining about need drafting. You draft guys based on the future, not really immediate need. So if it ends up being offense, so be it. We drafted a CB, a LB/edge guy, and a NT/DT this past draft, not to mention an edge rusher top ten the year before... the returns were not immediate mostly. You want us to just keep doing that until the defense is to your liking?
Maybe those guys develop and are really good next year... Anyways... you use free agency (smartly) and draft good players, whatever the position.
A really good offense can often help a not so good defense. I mean, the Chiefs seem okay for the most part and their defense isn't exactly good. Seattle manages to win a lot with I think the league's worst passing defense.

Fact is, we have a lot of needs. If Cam leaves, we have a hole at LT (and don't tell me we have Will frickin Richardson waiting in the wings lol). We obviously need a QB... TE has been a glaring hole for the franchise's entire existence it seems (sorry Marcedes...) and yeah we still need safeties and a 3T next to Hamilton (or if we switch to a 34 we probably need a lot more)

This team is in serious need of BAP drafting if I've ever seen it. The only positions not really "lacking" is WR and RB (aside from maybe depth). Concentrating on defense is how you guys will be crying about us reaching for need again.

This is my concerning part. Shad obviously was sold the tear down. Now the question remains, will that tear down be Dave's alone to handle? Would it be just an appeasement tactic if Dave was kept and Marrone was let go? You have to think they're tied together, but then again, you'd think a lot of things with this franchise.

I think the plan was purge cap but be competitive on offense with Minshew and Gruden's scheme and Chark taking another step etc.

I really can't see Caldwell and Doug being kept after a 1 win season... a 4 or 5 win season with the offense keeping us in games maybe would have been an easier sell... maybe...
If Khan keeps this same front office I'll be the least excited for a season in a long time. I've been one to argue Caldwell hasn't been as bad as many fans claim... but I still think he hasn't been good enough and it is time for a change, top to bottom. No soft resets... brand new blood everywhere. If they keep this staff and then fire them next year after another bad season we're wasting the boat load of draft picks and cap space and the next regime would then be handicapped with a roster completely rebuilt by the guy who wasn't good enough to do it before. It's bad enough they already gave them the 12 picks we had this past year.

I'm with you 100% and hope that's the case. I'd be meh about Caldwell returning, not thrilled but still somewhat interested. If they're both back I really don't know how I can get excited for this team. Even if we managed to get Trevor

In 2021, Jags face the NFC West (Super tough all 4 teams) and AFC East (semi-tough with 2 good teams and Belichek who eats up rookie QB's and will returning most of the defense starters that sat out 2020).

Plus, there are lots of holes and not all the solutions will pan out. Lastly, we have no idea what will happen with an offseason practices/camps/games that makes it difficult for a rebuilt team to get reps, familiarity and consistency because will COVID will become less of an issue but it won't be completely gone next season.

The goal should definitely be 0.500 in Division record and overall Record, but it would be tough.
