I see a lot of what has plagued the Jaguars since inception in this thread: Small time, not ready to run with big boys, have some controversy, the coach or players maybe scum but hey just win, not up to date with how things run outside of rural attitude Jacksonville.

I care less if Urban comes here, brings success for 4-5 years and retires again. THIS IS 21st CENTURY BIG BUSINESS. I care less if they hire him without interviewing whoever...THIS IS 21ST CENTURY BIG BUSINESS. I'm not moving in these circles (and probably few of us are) of the Khans and other NFL professionals, so I don't know the politics...THIS IS 21ST CENTURY BIG BUSINESS.

Some of you seem to be too invested in a comical, above your pay grade, can't enjoy the ride because you think you know more than the ones in that profession, type of way. Just chillax, let them make their decisions first, and react appropriately at the results.

This is how i feel precisely. well written and explained.

I am totally of the mindset of letting Khan conduct business and getting the people he believes can make this work.... i haven't given up on him yet. I am excited about landing a new GM, coaching staff and #1 pick... 6 picks within the top 100 and just to be talked about again. If Urban Meyer provides that, and turns more wins then losses - it'll prove to be the smart move.

Except for the fact that Meyer has no NFL experience in any capacity. But let's say somehow he is able to translate his college coaching style into NFL wins, everything in his past points to short term success with a dumpster fire of issues to be dealt with after he bails. Not to mention his stress induced migraines. Thankfully the job of an NFL coach is stress free.

Under no circumstances is Urban Meyer the answer.

If all these rumours check out, you may want to consider cheering for another team then?

I don't care for Meyer's history but would prefer Meyer over re-treads like Jim Caldwell and Marvin Lewis. If it's true, I like the pursuit of Meyer because it would show that the Jags are going all out.

Here's my most wanted listed (most wanted first): Matt Campbell, Brian Daboll >>> Arthur Smith >>> Ryan Day. I previously want Dabo but I've heard enough of his mouth the last week.

There were a lot on here that wanted a college coach and Meyer is the best of the college coaches. He will come here, win us a couple SBs and retire

I would be enthused that we're actually just making finally what could be considered 'big moves' with the potential of affecting our franchise and fan base in ways we've likely never seen before. Meyer & his hand selected staff, along with a 'generational' College QB in Lawrence could be absolutely dangerous together.

Sorry, I don't subscribe to the Meyer philosophy of bailing when adversity strikes. If he is foolishly hired, I'll cheer for Jaguars success just the same while also waiting for the bomb to drop. Then I'll wait for Meyer homers to fess up to their short-sighted failure, but I won't hold my breath.

Could Khan have already satisfied the Rooney Rule by interviewing a candidate with Doug still employed?

Hall of Fame poster's swan song on the board. Let's all wish him good luck on his future endeavors.

I know a guy who works security for the Jaguars. If Meyer is brought onboard I'll see if he can get one of his sweat towels for you to put under your pillow.

No thanks. Preciate the offer though. Smile

So are we really going to hire a head coach before we get a GM? lol.

I don't think so. All of this rumor mill fodder is being perpetrated by click bait-hungry pundits.

That what Colin Cowherd seems to think, so probably not..

Yes, that is and has been the rumor.

But see, you're doing what I speak of, and perhaps you're not over invested and this is just dialog to you.

But we're not privy to those NFL circles. We're just casual fans who get filtered information from the media. As I said, Urban's name may still be golden in NFL circles?

Your concerns are his lack of NFL experience, short-term success, and his health.

Lack of NFL experience can be concerning, but there's a reason he's a viable option to people in NFL circles. As in every business, owners and management are probably privy to info the lower employees and customers aren't.

As for him being here a short time and leaving the organization in disarray, aye, it happens! It can happen. Hopefully he only gets that chance because he brings immediate success. And as he leaves in year 5, sticking us with cap hell and causing us to rebuild...so be it. So is life in the NFL in the 21st Century.

Being forced to leave due to health reasons...hopefully he brought us success in his time here, thanks for that...OK Shad time to hire the next guy...shrug.

I think the days of same coach for 20 years are mostly over. Society and the NFL has changed. Pretty sure the Patriots are the last of that.

It's all tied to having a great QB now. And being able to consistently ensure you have a good QB. Coaches and great players will come AND go.

It's just debate. If I were over invested in the argument I would have threatened to burn my team memorabilia and end my fandom. Never.

This is a momentous turning point for the franchise and the right selections now are important for its long-term success. It is my opinion that Urban Meyer would be a hindrance to that goal.

I think it's comical that some of you NOW would give up being a fan over just a coaching hire. Like you haven't left after all these years of sucking but this is what finally is going to put the nail in the coffin for you?

Lots of chatter that Meyer would want GM power, so if this ends up being true, I very much doubt we even hire one.

I'm 100% out if they do this. I can't root for a person like Urban, and he's going to give us locker room issues all over again before he bails for "health issues."

For me it's years of sucking plus the coaching hire.  It proves they have no [BLEEP] clue what they're doing and it's not worth my time ot money any more.

For all we know Khan is rolling his eyes at the prospect of hiring Meyer. The people who are perpetuating the rumors are the ones who rely on clicks for a livelihood.
