Agreed, the only thing that concerns me about bringing in a defensive coach is if Lawrence has a good year, Lafleur will probably go on to be a head coach somewhere next year and then TL will have to learn a new offensive system

How many years did it take for TL to be good in the system he started with in college?

I'm not saying he couldn't be good in different systems but to get the most out of him I would rather get a offensive guru as a head coach were he stays in that one system for the majority of his career.  Not to mention it college vs pro

Just checking. Good coaches will be pilfered, you can't stop that. If you want to keep your coaches, hope for a lesser result.

Not head coaches, which is why I would rather an offensive guru

My bad. I thought you were talking about an offensive passing game coach for the 49ers.

I'm more confident today that we won't be hiring Meyer after Shad's comments

I was, if we hired Saleh as HC I would like him to bring Lafleur as his OC.  Then the following year we would probably be looking for a new OC

So you would rather we have less success so our coaches aren't pilfered? Then why do you want Saleh? Is he bad, or good? I'm confused.

No, im just saying if we did get Saleh as our coach that's who I want as the OC.  I.would rather bring in a offensive coach, one with a good system that calls the offensive plays.

So, a HC to run the offense? Then why even worry about Lafleur, and his system leaving to be a HC elsewhere? Will this be a Saleh, or a Lafleur offense? Why don't we just hire Lafeur as HC if you are worried he will be too good to stay?

You are making my head hurt...

Saleh is a DC....if he was hired to be the Jags HC we would need to hire an OC.

In that scenario, flgatorsjags suggested Lafleur to be his OC.  If TLawerence and the Jags offense looks good then in 2022 Lafleur could be a HC candidate and the Jags would be looking for another OC in TLawerence 2nd year and possibly a different scheme.

Flgatorsjags is saying he would prefer an offensive minded head coach over Saleh to begin with instead of worrying about juggling OCs every year.

I agree that it's not as far along as some people seem to think, but there is still the possibility.  Meanwhile, here is an article about Meyer's prospects in the NFL:

Now this morning I'm seeing a report that Dan Mullen is interested in the NFL.

https://www.news4jax.com/sports/2021/01/...-retained/

"Dan Mullen has interest in the NFL. It’s a statement Gators’ fans don’t want to hear, but according to reports, Mullen is looking to jump to football’s highest stage."

Ah yes. Making excuses for why you got blown out by OU. That’s the guy the NFL needs!
