Monroe Traded

Trade Monroe.

This team had its eyes set on going the cheap route the entire time. Instead of re-signing one the the leagues best LT's we draft his replacement and STILL have that same gaping hole we had at RT last year.

What a waste of a pick. Shame on those that defended it and believed the garbage that Caldwell and Tony Khan fed you.
Bingo but they will keep drinking the teal kool aid

No problem.

A 1st rounder for a premium player playing a premium position would have been excellent, especially looking at what the Browns got for an average RB playing a position that is slowly being phased out of the game. A handful of late picks isn't going to do this team any more good than signing a bunch of UDFAs.

You have a very high opinion of Monroe.  I never thought a team would even come close to trading a 1st round pick for Monroe.

Quote:...and I'd have little if any problem with that  - I'd just like to get some draft choices in return that are high enough to actually matter/ benefit us in the ensuing rebuild.

As we have seen,   even UDRFA's sometimes make a huge impact in the NFL and high 1st round picks have been colossal busts.    Yet,  there's no question that the higher the draft pick,   the greater the chance a player will pan out.      Even if the next draft or two turns out to be deep in talent,    many 3rd Day players taken are not going to be significant factors in the NFL.    I certainly understand your concern.

A bit more than you obviously. This coming from the same poster who guaranteed Alualu wouldn't make the roster.... :whistling:

If Caldwell winds up being worse than Gene, I may need therapy... Sad

Scroll down to non exclusive tag.  Read the other while you are at it.

You are thinking restricted free agency, not the franchise tag.

Sounds like he got it right other than calling the non-exclusive franchise tag, exclusive rights FA.

Haha I made a prediction in a bold prediction thread.

And Alualu is garbage by the way.  Hey why don't we trade him for 5 first rounders?

Your emoticons are really cute.  Is that supposed to bother me?

No, you made a bet guaranteeing he wouldn't make the roster. You lost remember? (I do) And couldn't post for a week or two. And you are supposed to be the end all-be all in evaluating players?

News flash: Your evaluations suck.

He got it wrong.  He said you can put any value on Monroe if he is Franchised.  You can't.  If a team signs him while he has the Non Exclusive then that team has to forfeit two first round picks.

Most sensible people aren't demanding a 1st rounder for Monroe.  The general consensus seems to be most would be happy with a 2 and a 5, but would be fine with a 3 and 4 or even 3 and 5.  From the sounds of things, we're getting a 4 and 5 at best.

News flash:  Yours aren't so great either.

Oh yeah....

You mad bro?

Would that be a problem vs "multiple 3rd day picks"? I sure wouldn't mind.

Yes, if a team signs him.  Nobody is going to sign him for 2 1sts.  Monroe can still be traded though and he can be traded for whatever value the teams deem to be a fair trade.

Ok Mr. Football.  Do you really think that someone would sign Monroe if they had to give up two first round picks?  A lot easier said then done.  And my evaluating skills suck?

Then it would just be a trade.  And you would probably get exactly what you got for him today.
