You're talking plenty, and don't even know what you're talking about. Unless you've worked in the NFL you're just a casual fan like the rest of us. Just enjoy the ride!!! Not like you have millions invested like Khan.

You're all outdated...from what I've read it's not even odd or uncommon to hire a coach first. Like I said you farts are talking out your bleeps and your bumpkin mentalities are the reason the Jags have been a laughing stock. It's the BUMPKIN mentality of this town!!!

The NFL is a big boy game and business, things change fast.

So what Urban may only be here 3-5 years. Wish him success and play your position...fan.

So because we're fans we can't have opinions?

Because Khan invests millions it guarantees he makes the right coaching choices?  Because we don't invest as much as Khan we have no interest/stake in the fortunes of the Jaguars?

The fans mentalities are why the Jaguars went 1-15 this past season and that we've had one winning season since 2008??

If your point is that some are worrying too much over the sequence of hire, fine.  Cite your examples showing the opposite sequence has worked fine if you wish to bolster your argument.  Dismissing the other side of the argument as having a "bumpkin mentality" without citing ANY evidence whatsoever makes you as guilty you claim everyone else here to be.

He actually came onto a fan discussion board and posted that. The logic is just...

He's 73. He's a good DC but he must be ready to hang it up soon.

I'd say Jax is the more attractive job, at least for this year. Falcons are over the cap already by $32m for 2021, and obviously don't have the draft capital. However, the Falcons have more "prestige" to their name than Jax.

I have doubts that he declares.

Ohio State QB's have a very poor track record in the NFL.  When was the last time an Ohio State QB became a top 5 QB in the NFL?

What he's done with every program?  You mean "overlook" player/coach crimes as long as they perform on the field?  Not just bad behavior - but bad guys - multiple guys that assaulted their girlfriends and/or wives and guys who assaulted coaches, not even getting into the debacle that was Aaron Hernandez.....Meyer overlooks any and everything as long as the team is winning - and while I DO want to win, I'm not sure how far I want our coach to go in that pursuit.

That was once a common practice.

If you recall the famous Bill Parcells press conference when he quit the Patriots (if you want me to cook the food...you should let me pick the groceries), he was referring to having the ability to pick his own players.

Jimmy Johnson and Bill Walsh are two coaches who ran their teams' respective draft rooms.

But over the years, the teams have gotten away from that.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Man, we could have had Joe Brady at HC. He's going to Atlanta. Instead we gonna get a wishy washy college rpo coach. We suck again.

Slightly reassuring

Also, Per Albert breer on Twitter, Urban is pushing for more facility upgrades if he comes on as head coach

NFL seems less shady then college football, so I think it will be a breath of fresh air.
The rules are pretty much spelled out for you in the NFL and followed.

The rules are spelled out in college football also - Meyer just chose to ignore them as long as his team was winning.  Him being on the sideline will make it difficult to cheer for this team - not that I won't, I'll just want to throw something at my big screen anytime they show him on the sidelines.  Maybe I'll have to get season tix again, cause I can't see the coach from where I was sitting lol.

You kind of have to cheat with recruiting the way college football is set up.

In the NFL, the recruiting part is not really an issue since you have the draft and salary cap. Tanking is really the only thing you can control and that is perfectly legal under the rules.  Now cheating is possible in other ways (see Belicheck) but not in the acquiring players part.

When you're Urban Meyer and the GM is Trent Baalke, I'm guessing.

If you thought Tom Coughlin was bad in how he violated the rules, get ready for Urban.

I think its a lot less pressure for a coach in the nfl. In college, you lose one game and your stress goes up 100 %. Your season is over unless you are a top 4 team. In the nfl, you can lose some games. The draft is a lot easier than recruiting. Free agency is easy. If you have an owner who wants to win now, throw a bunch of money.
