That would definitely be a huge move in an already huge and interesting draft weekend. I just don't see that happening. I know the Packers shot themselves in the foot by drafting that Jordan Love kid last year. That was really stupid given that they already have a bonafide star QB, not to mention I think Love is gonna be a bust, but trading Rodgers? That would be madness! Keep him, try to move up in the draft and get him the best WR possible in a sign of good faith and basically offer to extend his contract, making him the richest QB in the NFL. He's signed through 2023, so if he wants to play elsewhere, he can't. Call his bluff and see if he retires. You don't trade him though. That is not even an option. They were trying to get the MVP and only if that didn't work out they would go for a rookie? If the Packers are stupid enough to trade Rodgers, the Jets better get on the phone quickly and offer up whatever they have to. I wonder if this is a move from Rodgers to make sure they use that 1st round pick to actually help him unlike drafting Love or D. Surely the cap hit from trading him makes this trade impossible. Packers been in the Championship game 2 years running, don't blow a team that close up (04-29-2021, 04:08 PM)Dimson Wrote:(04-29-2021, 04:07 PM)mal234 Wrote: I'm not sure how much truth there is to this but now profootballtalk is saying Aaron could indeed be traded this weekend. Profootball is saying he likes being out on the west coast and that the Raiders and Denver could also be options for him. Someone said on Twitter that his fiancee lives in Colorado. Though, I read some reports saying they really don't want to trade him. I agree it would definitely be in their best interest if they to get him the best WR help tonight during the draft. They need to do something to show good faith towards him. Though, in the event he does continue to hold out, Ian Rapoport is saying there is chance he could end fill that time up being a long term host on Jeopardy. Reportedly he impressed the Jeopardy Brass and could possibly be selected to host it long term.

The cap hit would be like $37 million this year with $38 million in dead money and almost $40 million in 2022 with $17 million in dead money. I just don't see how trading him is even possible. Even more news about Aaron, according to profootball talk, here are his preferred destinations in the event he is traded:

I always thought if Rodgers/Packers divorce ended up ugly he would somehow end up with the Bears or the Vikings just to face and get back at GB twice a season. Of course the year the Jags have the No. 1 pick, the media storm gets swelled up in QB trade request instead of the Jags limelight of picking TL. A sizeable number of the respondents said yes they would, and other saying there would be zero reason for the Jaguars to make that deal. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

I'm not sure how they would try and make it work, but now Trey Wingo is saying he has sources that state the Packers did indeed tell Aaron they were going to trade them. He's saying they withdrew that offer, deepening the rift between them and Aaron. trey wingo on Twitter: "Sources: The Packers reportedly told Aaron Rodgers they were going to trade him in the off season, then backed off. It’s been a bleep show between them ever since. And within the last week Rodgers told the team.. trade or no trade I’m not coming back. Buckle up folks" / Twitter

I still don't know how they could trade him when he would count as $38 million in dead cap space, but if it happens, life in Green Bay without Aaron Rodgers will be miserable. Nightmare Scenario: Rodgers for Watson. Then we face Aaron Rodgers twice a year.

Besides, there's no talent in Houston. Rodgers would be in a worse situation in Houston than he would be in Green Bay. It would drive him into an early retirement. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
