I think this could definitely end up being one of the most interesting drafts that has been had in a bit. We know what the Jags are going to do with the #1 pick, but I am interested to see what they do with other picks as well. I'm also interested in seeing what teams do in general. Some predictions I have are that Jimmy G could be traded tonight, possibly back to the Patriots. I could also see the Patriots/Bill Belichick having good enough fortune to get someone like Trey Lance, maybe even Justin Fields if he falls that far. Speaking of Justin, I don't think his draft stock should have fallen the way it has the past few weeks. I really do feel like he should still be considered the #2, no less than #3 QB in this draft. A team passing on him and choosing someone like Mac Jones could end up in some ways mirroring what happened regarding what happened Mitchell Trubisky was taken higher, when teams passed on Deshaun Watson.

I also wonder if Gardner will be moved at all during the draft. I'm not sure what the Jags will end up doing with him. Urban mentioned liking him, but he hasn't really voiced that he thinks Gardner should be a solid #2 behind Trevor. Plus, the team signed CJ which seems to go against them keeping Gardner. And they were trying to get Alex Smith. Plus, Jake Luton is still on the team. If the Jags wanted to trade Gardner, they really should have done it once teams started asking about him weeks ago. That was the best time to move him and the best time to get compensation.

Since then his value has been diluted like other QB's such as Teddy B and I think even Sam Darnold, who both probably could have gotten higher returns in other years. The Jags seemed to have dragged their feet regarding Gardner, and I'm not sure what their reasoning was behind that. Maybe they are just waiting until they officially draft Trevor to get rid of Gardner. I don't know. If he's traded I hope he goes to a good situation, but there are less options out there for him now. The Falcons need a backup QB, they currently don't have one behind Matt Ryan, so they might be an option. I have also heard people speculate Tampa Bay may be a landing spot for him. He wouldn't start there either (at least not anytime soon barring injury), but that is a good place for him to learn how to be apart of a winning culture.

They better draft Trevor Lawrence. I don't like all this coyness, not telling us who they're going to pick, and them saying they're going to use all 10 minutes. Use all 10 minutes! For what? It worries me. Just tell us you're going to draft Trevor Lawrence, for God's sake.

I definitely think they will draft Trevor. I think they are just trying to look like they are doing their due diligence and are trying to appear like they are being "fair" to other draft prospects. I believe they are going to draft him and have known that for a while now.

That being said it would be interesting seeing some other teams making some surprising/maybe even shocking decisions, lol. That could make for fun television. I still wonder what Detroit will end up doing with their pick and if the Falcons will choose a QB. If the Falcons choose a QB with their #4 pick, that could definitely alter/significantly change the rest of the draft.

Agreed with what you said but to your point in bold, I don’t think it has fallen quite as much as the media claims. It’s always easy, around this time, to forget that media may have some inside scoops but they aren’t the front offices. He could and still probably is #2 on most draft boards. I find it funny as well that a guy can not play a snap for 6 months yet according to the media, he is far behind lance and Wilson.

Good thing for us is the thoughts around Trevor have not waivered much, if any, since his last snap. Great day to e a Jaguar.

I’m glad we have the no.1 pick. I’m not sure how much later I’ll be able to stay up. I’ll be out well before the second pick.

Will be cheesing like crazy hearing TL’s name being called.

(Emphasis added)

It's quite possible that Garoppolo could be traded this weekend.  It'll be interesting to see what they could get for him.  On the one hand, he has QBd the 49ers to a Super Bowl and is still relatively young.  There will still be some QB desperate teams out there by the middle of the first round.  On the other hand, it's beyond obvious the 49ers have given up on him.  Despite his resume, the 49ers feel he is obsolete for their purposes.  My guess is they get a 2nd or 4rd round pick for him.

As for Minshew, I would be okay with the team keeping him, as long as we only see him in a preseason game, or in mop up duty in the late stages of a blowout Jaguars win.  If he stays, though, it would be quote the dynamic.  Two popular QBs on the team...both with interesting hair.  You couldn't have two more different personalities-at least from what I've seen.  You have Trevor Lawrence, straight laced devout Christian, already married, highly drafted, tall, strong armed.  Then you have Minshew, the mullet wearing Burt Reynolds reminiscent, spunky guy who got an offer from a porn site to do exercises, who has worn some outlandish clothing for laughs.   As for why they didn't trade him before now...who knows?  Maybe they think they will get more for him if another QB gets injured.  Maybe they'll get more for him as the draft progresses.  Perhaps the most interested said to wait until the draft.  Maybe they actually like him and they want strong competition for the back up spot.  If we deal him, I wouldn't expect to get more than a 4th or 5th.  But if he's traded, I too hope he goes to a good situation, as long as it isn't to a team I hate, and as long as he doesn't come back to beat us.

Agreed with the part in bold.  Lots of speculation...lots of smoke this time of year.  He may well be on the top of the Jets or 49er board.  In most drafts, I think he would be a #1 overall pick.  I think whoever gets him and give him help and stable coaching will have fixed their QB position for years.

I was watching Rich Eisen yesterday, and he said the Jaguars have specifically asked them not to go to commercial during the first pick of the draft.  Seriously!

Somebody posted they overheard ESPN promising not to cut to commercial break during the Lawrence pick.  Not intending to cast aspersions on whomever posted it, but I'm not sure how much credence to give that, assuming that's what he heard.  I'm not sure if ESPN would even acknowledge how ridiculous they are in always cutting to commercial or interviewing someone else not associated with our team when we are on the clock.  Nor am I convinced that, even assuming ESPN would make that promise, they would keep that promise.

But I heard last night there is potentially something else that could let ESPN off the hook.  I don't know hoe true this is, but there is supposed to be a really bad lightning storm forecast to go through Cleveland tonight.

Woohoo! Been a long wait but here we are. Welcome to Duval Trevor.

Still not sure what we do with our second 1st round pick. Like that it's a bit of mystery.

Plus I cant wait to see what the Niners do with that #3 pick? Can Fields really drop all the way to the Pat's?

Personally, I think they've been very open that they are going with Trevor.  Short of expressly stating they are drafting Trevor, every action they have taken or not taken have pointed directly toward Trevor as their #1 pick.  I mean, do you really think Urban came out of retirement to coach Fields?  Heck, he didn't even go to Zach Wilson's pro day nor have they ever hinted of taking Justin, Mac, Trey, or Pitts.  I think the Jags selection, as a result of their actions, is as obvious as it gets.

If the Jaguars trade up from 25, I want to see how far they deal up.

The Cardinals at 16 seems to be a good spot.  They have no picks in the 3rd and 4th round because of earlier trades.

But if they traded up, who would be the target?

I guess they do the 8pm (ET) for west coast fans so they don't start too early but man, I wish the draft started at 7pm (ET).  I'll stay up drinking cocktails but Friday a.m. work will be a struggle.
