I feel that potential ceilings from guys with special traits are won out for teams at the end of the first round. Make some sense to take shots if you think you can there, but I'm not sure they have high likelihood of panning out.

And to think - we could have had both of them if we'd picked better at 25.

Everyone went defense at the end of the 1st. I'm skeptical that Etienne wouldn't have been there at 33.

Imagine, we could (should) have had TWO of them.

And if they’re so hellbent on getting another back, Gainwell is a receiving back they could grab in the 3rd who would compliment JRob well.

This franchise refuses to learn.

Tampa was supposedly really interested in Etienne.  Perhaps if we didn't take him at 25, Tampa would have taken him at 32.

I'm okay with him at 25, especially since we can still land Teven Jenkins.

As all the players that people wanted are still there on day 2, picking any of them at 25 would have been a reach. There is no way Etienne makes it out of the first round imo.

I personally wouldn’t have drafted him there, but it’s definitely not the huge disaster that some people are making out. He’s an excellent player, with a totally different skill set to Robinson. He’s a dynamic, explosive player, which will only improve the offence.

Barmore is still available to start day 2, this is incredible hope UM and TB take advantage

The problem is that I have absolutely no faith that we will take him. I'd be fine taking Barmore at 33 and targeting Oline at 45. While Jenkins will surely be gone by then, maybe we can still get Eichenberg, Radunz or Cosmi. I'd even be good looking at interior Oline  - Creed Humphrey, Quinn Meinherz or Landon Dickerson.

He’s not a disaster. I like him more than a right tackle (Jenkins) but not more than Moehrig, but thankfully the Jags can get him or Barmore tomorrow.

Owusu-Koramoah and Moehrig are making it way too far down in the draft. My bet is the Jags pick one of those two, most likely Owusu-Koramoah. And Long at TE with pick 45. It's picking Long a bit high, but it's a big bet to think the next TE picked won't go until the first pick of the third round. If they don't care between Long and Freiermuth then they are likely to get one of those two in the third with pick 65. In which case I think they'll do a value pick at pick 45.

According to Daniel Jeremiah, Jenkins is ranked 39th and Barmore is ranked 43rd. "Barmore is a big, talented defensive tackle. I was disappointed in his play at the beginning of the 2020 season, but the lingering effects of a preseason knee injury might have been a factor. He turned it way up down the stretch. He is a little late off the ball against the pass, but he has good quickness and flashes the power to push the pocket. He is outstanding on games and stunts when he can use his athleticism to wrap around blockers. He has a big burst to close and finish, too. He is very inconsistent versus the run, but he plays too high and gets uprooted too often. He does flash the range to make plays on the perimeter. Watch him close to the outside on a wide receiver screen in the Auburn game to get a better appreciation for his athleticism. Overall, Barmore is young, raw and talented. There is a boom/bust aspect to his evaluation, but he has all the tools."

No way,
there's a reason why teams didn't take him. I don't know what it is but I don't want him.

But it doesn't mean they were right to do so.

Players fall all the time for reasons known and unknown.  A few of them became great players.

Dan marino, Boomer Esiason, Warren Sapp, John Henderson, and Aaron Rodgers are all guys who fell further down in the draft than anticipated and went on to have great careers.  Add Brett Favre, Rayl Lewis, Derrick Brooks and Tom Brady to that list.

Barmore may or may not achieve the greatness label the players I listed above earned.  The odds are against it.  But him falling, in itself, doesn't mean he can't be a productive player.

So if the team takes Barmore at 33 and takes OL at 45, would that make you okay with the Etienne pick at 25? Conversely, if the team went after, say Ojulari at 33 and Moore at 45, would you NOT be okay with Etienne at 25?

If, IF I thought the O-line was adequate, I'd feel a lot better about the Etienne pick.  He's definitely a talent.  I will have no problem taking joy watching him run.  But the whole franchise is wrapped up in #16.  He must be protected at all costs.  We have to come out of these first 4 picks with an OT or the front office didn't do their jobs.

I think this is the reasoning they will draft a speed WR @ 33...E.Moore
