Stuff happens.

One wrong move, one wrong planted foot - hell one wrong stretch - and things can sprain strain or break.

Yes. I got hammy tightness occasionally when trying to go full speed to get to first base or to breakaway in soccer. You don't get it otherwise.

Sounds like we hired the wrong guy as trainer. Not sure how your resume got overlooked.

Moons Over My Hammy is quite tasty from what I remember.

Sounds like coach speak. I’m honestly surprise so many people are putting so much thought into this

Coachspeak for sure but actually there's a basis for it. Maybe they want to consider not throwing a rookie into the fire right off the bat. It wouldn't be unprecedented. Would also explain why they haven't bit on any of the offers for Minshew yet.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

It's an Urban Meyer coaching technique.  No matter who you are, you have competition, and you have to earn your starting job.   He likes to put pressure on players.  No one is handed anything.

I'm pretty sure that when the time comes, TL will be named the starter, because he will have earned it in training camp.

If the number 1 pick in the draft isn't ready to play QB in game 1 he shouldn't have been the #1 pick.

Lol

Barring injury, there is a 0% chance Minshew or anyone else is the starting QB week 1. Come on now.

Yeah I think it's a bit of coach speak and maybe just wanting guys to come into training camp ready to compete rather than think they already have starter positions

One thing I did see was Lawrence hasnt called plays in a huddle before through a headset. A lot of college QB's havent and I'm sure its something they are working on. I'm still expecting Lawrence week 1 starter barring injuries.

Just imagine trotting Minshew out there week 1 and Trevor on the bench hahaha the Jags would be laughed at once again.

I think the Texans will be a great week 1 matchup for Trevor and the offense.

I saw Rich Eisen talking about this and they just laughed at the thought Lawrence wouldn't start. I agree with you. Theres some things your only going to learn by playing and taking proper gametime snaps. Houston look a real mess and I agree it's a perfect game for him to open up with. In fact I think it will be a perfect game for the O, D and Meyer to open up with.

Get a W there and people will be talking positively about us

College players are rarely ever ready to start their first year regardless of where they're drafted. Because of the expectations, they usually do get in there sooner or later and everyone knows that will be the case with Lawrence. Whether that's the first game or not is no indictment of the draft pick. It is maybe a sign of overhyped expectations.

Think about the laughing that would happen if you trot out Lawrence and he throws for 116 yards and 4 picks and gets benched in the ,4th quarter.

By all means, start him when he's ready but don't force it if he's not. You'll do more damage then good.

There must be some novice NFL fans around here.

If he's ready isn't the same as saying he's the best QB on the roster. What we could see is that Minshew is better than Lawrence week 1 but that Lawrence is still 'good enough'. Why would anyone play Minshew in that case?

With the intent to boost up Minshew's trade value.

I don’t think anyone is saying to force him but Minshew isn’t good. It’s not hard to be better than him and I think Lawrence was most likely better than Minshew 2 years ago.

Lawrence is/will be ready by week 1. I have no doubt.
