What Jaguar Coaches are saying about the 'Big 3'.

(This post was last modified: 02-26-2014, 02:57 PM by The Mad Dog.)

Quote:Bridgewater fellas

He aced his interviews and showed high level football iq on the whiteboard

Has the pocket presence, accuracy, and arm to boot

Bridgewater is the only QB from this draft thats in a class by himself.

I like Manziel, but there is just as big of a chance Manziel busts as there is that he turns out to be a stud.

Bortles is "decent", but not as impressive as Bridgewater. However, I could see why some people might rate Bortles above Manziel. Higher floor.....but IMO, lower ceiling, too.

The rest of the QB in the draft are a complete crapshoot.

Quote:Well, that's part of your problem.  Comprehension.  I presented the report as it is.  I stated it as one report that backs previous musings of other reports.  If you took that as gospel, well... I can't help you there.  These are folks opinions, yes, that's a fact.  If you want to dismiss it because it doesn't fit your opinion, that's fine.  If your intent was just to stir the pot with me, that's fine, too.  Just admit whatever it is you're doing.

I don't know why you think I have an issue with you.  I don't find 1010XL to be a credible source.  Much like I don't find walterfootball to be a credible source despite the fact that they agree with me on some things.  I'd never use them to back up my opinion, because I don't think they're that credible.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I am not in the habit of believing everything I hear, BUT I was told by a trustworthy, credible friend just a while ago that a source he knows with the Jags told him they currently rank the QB's:

1. Bortles

2. Manziel

3. Bridgewater

Based on that, the main question now seems to be how close do they rank Bortles and Manziel?  If Bortles goes #1 overall to Houston, do they see Manziel worthy of #3 overall, or would they only take him if they traded down a couple of spots, and take Mack at #3 instead.  I don't think Manziel gets past the Browns, so Caldwell might just take him at #3. There MUST be a reason so many mocks have the Jags going with Manziel if they stay at #3.  Word is out, or good smokescreen to bait a trade?

The question I have would be were would Clowney fit in all of this. Assuming he's in consideration as well if available at #3.

If the Jags seriously are rating Bridgewater 3rd among the top 3, then I don't expect this regime to be the one that turns things around here.

Now, thats also a big IF, because I am not going to just believe the above as gospel. Maybe we'll get a chance to see the above proven come draft time, maybe not.

Only if they think like you and are putting Ted on a pedestal.  If Ted's that good, the Texans won't pass and give him to us.

I know this may be difficult for you to believe, but there are folks out there who don't see him as any more special than the other QBs in the draft.

You keep saying that but it doesnt make it solid. Teams make mistakes.

The Texans could make the wrong choice.  Teams often make the wrong choices.  If Teddy is that good, I hope the Texans do pass on him.  And I hope we manage to get him.  If he's not, I hope Caldwell sees it, and passes on him, or the Texans take him.

I'm not sure how interviews at the combine work.  Could it be that some questions he answered well, and others he answered poorly, and certain people look at certain questions more?

McShay went on ESPN and said he killed it on the whiteboard

Also he is the type of guy who only speaks when there is a reason to speak

Probably bugged a couple teams

Heard the same about Rodgers when he came out

I thought you said a few days ago that all talk like that was 'misdirection', and the less or worse a team talks about a QB, the more they want them?

Who knows till draft day I guess.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

So do message board GMs.

Texans need a QB just as bad as we do.  Do you really think they'd pass on one (a reportedly good one, even a great one if as advertised) just to hand him to us on a platter?

Would we pass on Luck to let him go to the Colts?  Or any franchise QB to our opponent for that matter?  Would you?

No, you've taken that role from day one.  You should stick to something you know, like mall security.
