Preseason game vs Browns *Super Official*
|
O.K, halfway through the game and there are good points and bad points.
The good. 1. The run defense looks amazing. They are swarming to the ball carrier. I love it. If we play like this, we'll be a top 5 unit in run defense. 2. Trevor Lawrence looks pretty good. It's just too bad that the O-Line is giving him no help at all. 3. For the most part, pass coverage has been o.k., outside of the RB screen passes which are killing us. The Bad 1. A return TD gets negated by a penalty on guess who....... Wingard. I swear, that guy is the most undisciplined player in the NFL. He plays with reckless abandon and that is not a good thing. Why is he still here? 2. The O-Line looks like garbage. Both OT's are bad, but Jawaan Taylor (the bane of my existence,) is getting thoroughly whipped on almost every play. I know Walker Little was brought in to play LT, but for this season can we please have him replace Taylor at RT? That area is a major problem. Cam Robinson isn't good, but Taylor is significantly worse. Not to mention that we are already on the hook for Robinson's entire salary this season. Having Walker start at RT this season, makes more sense. Taylor gave up the most pressures in the NFL last season and he's just adding to his career total the more he plays. It's maddening! 3. The RB screens are killing us. The downfield coverage is pretty good, but we're not getting enough pressure on the QB and the opposing RB is left wide open for quick screens. Something needs to be done to remedy this before the regular season starts. 4. Gardner Minshew is doing nothing to help his trade value. He thinks he should compete for the starting job? He looks like he doesn't even belong on the roster. He's misfiring on throws and holding the ball too long. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
It's only pre-season but that half was not good. Why are we refusing to run the ball?

How about run Clemsons fast pace spread offense. Nfl coaches hate change. Still stuck with archaic 1990s offense.

The preseason is for the coaches to observe players and run plays they want to see, no team should be running a game plan based on trying to win the scoreboard. Letting Lawrence get some live NFL experience is more important than running Robinson for games that don't count.
Fitting end. First half take aways....
Run d looks solid. Gives me hope that we can iron out the pass d, which actually didn't look too bad aside from the screens. I'm hoping the problem with the screen is the novelty if the 3-4. Let's hope the lbs can figure this out. Offensive: line looks mediocre at best. They are getting beat too much. Their run push looks alright, with the exception of the 4th Robinson didn't convert. T law has promise. Keep his jersey clean and we'll be ok. If not this year, next.
I think unfortunately we will have to run the ball more to keep teams honest, because our pass blocking appears to be horrible

Beathard looks like he can put down an impressive amount of beer.
Nice throw right there too.
This drive is screwed up?
