What Jaguar Coaches are saying about the 'Big 3'.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

Quote:No, you've taken that role from day one. You should stick to something you know, like mall security.Ok King Goblin, such a green nasty slimy creature description fits you like a glove
Quote:So do message board GMs. So if the Texans pass on Teddy, and Caldwell drafts him, I take it you're going to say that he got it wrong? I'd hope not, and I don't believe that you would think that. So I'm not sure why you're suggesting we should think that if the Texans pass on him that Teddy isn't that good of a pick.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.
Quote:So if the Texans pass on Teddy, and Caldwell drafts him, I take it you're going to say that he got it wrong? Like I've stated numerous times before, I'd defer to Caldwell as I'm not a GM or scout even though it's not my belief he's worth the pick. With the Texans needing a QB as badly as we do, it wouldn't raise your suspicions about Ted's prospects if they passed? That would only be natural. They are a team in need of a franchise QB, and passing on him would suggest he's not a franchise QB worth taking for a team in need. Not if they didn't think there was better value later... which would be true as much at pick #3 as it would at #1.

Quote:The question I have would be were would Clowney fit in all of this. Assuming he's in consideration as well if available at #3.If he is not taken at #1, I am assuming he is taken at #2 by somebody who trades up with the Rams, probably the Falcons. However, if Minnesota trades up to #2 with the Rams to take Bridgewater after Bortles goes #1 to Houston, the Jags probably take Clowney at #3, or better yet trade the pick to the Falcons. Either way, Clowney goes in the top 3.
Quote:Your in for shock come draft dayNo, I know for a fact he knows at least one person with the team. Problem is, it's not Caldwell, the one making the final decisions. So whether his "source" is giving him their own opinion, or they are giving the consensus feeling of the staff (including Caldwell), I don't know. At one time I did think the Jags would have little to no interest in Manziel. However, not I think it is Bridgewater that is a distant 3rd. I'm pretty sure the Jags would take Bortles over anybody at #3 if he was there, including Clowney... probably. However, if Bortles is gone, and it is Manziel there at #3, I'm not sure they pull the trigger. A lot of fans seem to want it, and a lot of media types seem to think they would now for some reason.

Sure, a team in need passed on him. But if Caldwell thinks he's the guy -- then that's a plus for us. Like I've said -- if Teddy's going to be the guy, I hope the Texans pass on him, and we take him. If not, then I hope the Texans take him, or if they don't then we pass on him. For me, the only red flags are when they get to the NFL and play. The Texans not taking him doesn't mean he isn't worth it at 3. I highly doubt that Caldwell looks at it that way, or any GM for that matter. You trust your own evaluations. Not another team's.

Rob Rang now has:
1. HOU - DE J. Clowney 2. STL - OT G. Robinson 3. JAC - QB J. Manziel 4. CLE - QB B. Bortles 5. OAK - QB T. Bridgewater Rang says "Given his time in Seattle, Bradley may be more willing than most to gamble on the upside of a small, dual-threat quarterback with undeniable charisma and improvisational skills." Obviously comparing Manziel to Russell Wilson. But that is not really a very good argument for Manziel, and Bradley won't be the one to make the final draft decision. And it is true, as Rang says, that Bortles and his build/arm seem to fit the Cleveland climate better. I just can't see Caldwell taking Manziel over Bortles though. It just seems like Manziel will have a couple of decent seasons, then be out of football after a 5-year career for some reason. Bortles on the other hand seems like he might have a little bit of the "it" that Andrew Luck has and will have a decent career. We show less advertisements to registered users. Now go read their comments again and see which one they really want. Quote:Rob Rang now has: There's also the maturity of Russell Wilson... Quote:Gus and Dave mentioned three traits that they want out of their QB: timing, accuracy, and decision making. Now go read their comments again and see which one they really want. Who's to say they want any of them at #3? Brent Martineau doesn't get the feeling they do. There seems to have been a cooling off since the combine.

Quote:Who's to say they want any of them at #3?This will certainly be one of the most polarizing drafts in recent memory, because I don't think I ever remember such differing opinions, even from the so called experts. I know some who are certain the Big-3 QBs will all be gone no later than the 4th pick. With the Texans, Jags, and Browns pretty much having a feeding frenzy on them. But then there's people like Superbowl wining QB Phil Simms, who just said yesterday that he doesn't think there is a franchise QB in the whole draft this year. Wowza. Draft day's gonna be crazy this year I think.

He's certainly not the first to say it. It's been suggested none of the QBs have a first round grade on more than one occasion.

I think the most telling quote we've seen is where Caldwell said "I'd rather get criticized for passing on a QB than criticized for having selected the wrong one".
It sounds like he isnt going to take a QB unless he is extremely confident in him. And Im sure he is smart enough to know that if he takes a QB that high, his future is tied to the success of that player. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Quote:I think the most telling quote we've seen is where Caldwell said "I'd rather get criticized for passing on a QB than criticized for having selected the wrong one". In regards to this, wouldn't it be fascinating to know what the climate was in Atlanta prior to them drafting Matt Ryan? Were they completely sold on the guy? Were there questions? If so, who had them and what were they? And maybe most importantly, have all of those questions been answered to satisfaction?
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say! Quote:Facts are stubborn things.Fact. The Broncos and Seahawks made the Super Bowl without using a first round pick on an offensive lineman. Pesky thing, those facts.
