Texans Select Teddy

Quote:No you have to evaluate the player, not who they played... I mean sure the defenses weren't crazy good but he was still facing tons of pressure each game and making big time throws.... Awful argument Teddy homers are going to see what they want to see and ignore everything else.. The only real way to have settled this "argument", is if Teddy would have played the same level of competition that Manziel did. Which he did not.. Sorry, but Manziel picked apart SEC defenses while Bridgewater picked apart "i guess those are defenses" kinds of teams.. We show less advertisements to registered users. Rather have the QB who picked apart Alabama's defense two years in a row (once in Alabama as well), than a QB who picked apart Eastern Kentucky's..

Could someone explain to me what perceived level of competition has to do with how either of these guys project to the NFL?
Quote:Could someone explain to me what perceived level of competition has to do with how either of these guys project to the NFL? If its Teddy, then bad. If Its Bortles, then irrelevant. Quote:its funny how level of competition is a concern for Teddy but not for Bortles.Yup I dont think I ever seen anybody on this board or in the media down Bortles based on his competition, and they played in the same conference

How bout Big Ben's level of competition? How did level of competition work out for Tebow? You come from a spread gimmick offense and don't take snaps from under center. ...you will have trouble in the pros.
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

Sorry, but Manziel picked apart SEC defenses while Bridgewater picked apart "i guess those are defenses" kinds of teams.. Manziel is a hell of a player, but the system he plays in also helped pick apart the SEC defenses. Id love to see Manziel line up behind center at Louisville and play in that system
Shock the world

Yay.. Let's use the 3rd round pick on a QB who showed up small school defenses.. I'm sure those defenses would have been just as easy to show up as opposed to say Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Missouri..
Keep sniffin' jock fellas.. To each their own.. Quote:Yay.. Let's use the 3rd round pick on a QB who showed up small school defenses.. I'm sure those defenses would have been just as easy to show up as opposed to say Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Missouri..You think Bridgewater will fall to the 3rd round? FYI listing Auburn and Mizzou only weakens your argument
Quote:Yay.. Let's use the 3rd round pick on a QB who showed up small school defenses.. I'm sure those defenses would have been just as easy to show up as opposed to say Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Missouri.. Those aren't small school defenses. They are BCS conference defenses, albeit not good ones. You act like he was beating on sisters for the deaf and blind or something. Those defenses are 10x better than any defense Garoppolo played against. Also, I like to look at how the level of competition scales; in this case, Bridgewater's offense was equal in talent to the defenses he played against. Furthermore, Bridgewater lit up the #5, #9, #10, #17 defenses in the country during his sophomore year - not to mention a very game 2012 Syracuse defense. This year he lit up the #9, #19, and #22 defenses. He's played well against good, bad and average defenses all the same. By comparison Manziel this year: #5, #20, #24, #25, and #34. You are underestimating the quality of defenses the current AAC played last year and overestimate the quality of the SEC defenses this year.

Small"er" school defenses.. Or we can call his level of competition, "the bottom half of the barrel".. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Rather have the QB who picked apart Alabama's defense two years in a row (once in Alabama as well), than a QB who picked apart Eastern Kentucky's..Those great SEC defenses huh? Didn't Taj Boyd crush LSU by himself 2 years ago? Boyd will be a 3rd round pick this year. Didn't Teddy lead Lousiville to a win over Florida that same year? Yup. All the love for Teddy ... Yea it can be annoying sometimes but nothing and I mean NOTHING is worse than the SEC homers. That's the worst. Stop using the conference as the berometer for a good QB. How many Successful QBs in the nfl are from the SEC?
Quote:Level of competition is extremely over rated. Look at Fischer going over Joekel last year. Fisher didn't play very well. Dj Fluker from Bama out played Fisher,Lane Johnson and Joeckel. Joeckel missed most of season though and played right tackle instead of Left tackle.
