Texans Select Teddy

Quote:Fisher didn't play very well. Dj Fluker from Bama out played Fisher,Lane Johnson and Joeckel. Joeckel missed most of season though and played right tackle instead of Left tackle.

Fluker bombed to start the year.

Quote:Those great SEC defenses huh? Didn't Taj Boyd crush LSU by himself 2 years ago? Boyd will be a 3rd round pick this year. Didn't Teddy lead Lousiville to a win over Florida that same year? Yup.

All the love for Teddy ... Yea it can be annoying sometimes but nothing and I mean NOTHING is worse than the SEC homers. That's the worst. Stop using the conference as the berometer for a good QB. How many Successful QBs in the nfl are from the SEC?

The SEC is the best in NCAAF.. I acknowledge that..

By the way, I'm a die hard Noles fan.. Have Chief Osceola tattoo'd on my upper arm as well.. I'm just not in denial..

So that means they will have the best NFL players? That means they will have the best NFL QBs right? You're saying that because they play in the best college conference they will have the best pros right?

Quote:Yay.. Let's use the 3rd round pick on a QB who showed up small school defenses.. I'm sure those defenses would have been just as easy to show up as opposed to say Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Missouri..

Keep sniffin' jock fellas.. To each their own..

Auburn and Mizzou had a solid defense but nothing serious. And Manziel didn't even play well at all against LSU AND mizzou

The best defense in the country was Michigan St

Sec has more nfl starters then any other conference and Quarterbacks Mannings,Stafford,Cutler,Newton and Mallet backing up Brady. We're see how Manziel,MCcarron,Mettenberger,Murray,Etc do.

Its not spinning it. We have no clue if Mallet is good or not. The whole point here is that saying someone is going to be a better pro because of their conference is just biased.

Let me repeat myself.. Like I said in my other post.. Odds are better.

The odds may be better but you can't knock Teddy as a player for playing in the AAC or praise Manziel because he played in the SEC.

No I can't.. But I can knock his level of competition he played against.

....yes you can...as long as you also do that equally across the board. Bortles would also qualify as the same.

Quote:How believable would this be? When was the last time a QB with that level of competition or questionable size selected first overall?
To answer the OP's actual question, at least about 'level of competition':

2005-Alex Smith from Utah.

2002-David Carr from Fresno State.

Only two I'm aware of, at least over the last 20 years.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

Im a big Teddy fan. But, his play versus Kentucky is probably what we can expect with our O-line. He will face constant pressure.

Aside from injury, I still want the Jags to take Aaron Murray with a mid-late round pick.. Murray would have been my clear cut favorite sans the injury..
