Oh lord.  Nobody underpays in free agency.  Guys in the league generally salivate at the thought of hitting the open market for this very reason.  We must rationalize new info to fit the narrative though, right?  I mean it was originally "nobody likes Baalke or wants to work for him or play for his team" to now it's "well Baalke had to have a wreath of $100,000 denominated dollar bills around his neck for anyone to even look at him".

You do take some abuse here that you shouldn't, but you kind of ask for it sometimes with this type of [BLEEP].

Are you blind, deaf or both?   Outside of the Jaguars organization we are looked at as a clown show.  This is a fanbase just in week 17 who was reported on national news demanding our current GM get fired.   We just went through a National debacle of a high profile head coach since about week 3.   This has been the worst team in the past decade.  If your sitting here with a straight face trying to say that makes no matter to free agency then I have to say your crazy.

Jags are throwing out money early hahaha

This signing baffles me. We did not need a NT type and at 3 years $30 million, this seems like a huge waste of money for a backup NT. I don't understand this signing at all.

Honestly it's very similar to what Robert Woods got so really just depends on if you think he can play as well as Woods.

It's not. He excels in coverage. That's why we signed him. He's had 5 interceptions and 10 passes defended over the past 2 seasons. That's better than a lot of DB's.

Not sure I understand this signing.

I like the NT signing from the Jets, and love the Scherff signing.

I'd like to upgrade Bartch...but I like what I see with the Scherff agreement.

Like Bullseye, I'm a bit skeptical of a 215 lb. LB in a 3-4 scheme. With that said, he looks much bigger on tape. IMO, he looks closer to 230-235 lbs than he does 215 lbs. I'm guessing we're gonna use him in a lot of nickel packages where he serves as a LB/SS hybrid to cover TE's. If that is the case and he can keep us from being torched by opposing TE's like we have in the past, I won't complain at all. I'm gonna give this one a chance and see what he can do. He certainly put up some impressive stats last season. We just need to add a thumping ILB to play next to him on the inside.

He was 230lbs at his Pro day and I doubt hes gotten smaller since being in the league for 4 years. Here are his Pro day numbers. Very athletic. Don't know where the 215lbs listing comes from.

Woods is really great but no reason Kirk can’t be that guy for the Jags

When I saw what we gave him, I was ready to punch a hole in the wall. 4 years $84 million for a slot receiver? Then I read a report that if true, makes the deal much easier to swallow. What I read, said there was an out clause which would allow the team to cut him after next season with no dead cap money. I hope this is true. That is a ridiculous amount for an average receiver. Amari Cooper would have been a much, much better investment.

I like it. They were pretty horrible on defense overall last year but there were quite a few games where they were put on skates and pushed backwards in the ground game.

The Jets absolutely handled them in a one score game. Then they got bulldozed the following week by New England. Same thing happened on the road in another one score game with the clots earlier in the year.

They have to get better against the run. Your divisional opponents feature prominent runningbacks like Taylor and Henry. Adding one of last year's top run stuffers in conjunction with last year's league leading tackler at ILB bodes very well in their favor.

Also. We don't know if Caldwell is going 3 - 4 or 4 - 3 just yet. They may need a strong pairing at NT/DT for specific sets. They might also be looking at 3 safety sets at some point. The more big men up front the better. Especially in this division. The clots are in the market for a QB. Thus leaning that much more on Taylor.

Agreed, shocked we got him and for that cheap too. Hoping we have enough cap in future years to resign Josh Allen & Trevor since I think both will break the bank
Championship Formula:

1) Draft Trevor Lawrence!
2) Play good physical Defense!
3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy!
4) ???
5) Blank #2
6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

I know some of you don't want him but I have a really good feeling about him. I don't even care what the price tag is.

We got our slot guy.  That number 1 WR will be there at 33

I doubt it. I'm ready to package the #33 pick and #65 pick to move up into round 1 and target either Drake London, Jameson Williams, Chris Olave or Garrett Wilson. I don't care which one. I expect all 3 to be very good.

If we cut him that would be stupid. I believe we could at least get a 5th round pick for him. I still think Linder gets cut.

I'm not revisiting all that.  You took a widely known fact that teams routinely over pay in free agency and tried to assign the blame for that this year to Shad and Baalke specifically.  It's an attempt at "see I told ya so" horse [BLEEP].  Let's start here and see if we can find common ground:  Are free agents avoiding Jacksonville because of Shad/Baalke or nah?

If a player goes on record with "I signed with such and such even though the Jags offered more.  I just didn't want to play there.", you may have a point.  Until then, it's horse [BLEEP]. And this free agency period isn't necessarily definitive either way about how current and future free agents view Jacksonville, but it most certainly is doing more damage to your narrative than confirming it which is why I responded in the first place. You took something that doesn't confirm anything about your stance and tried to make it do so. It's ridiculous.

Love the Scherff signing.
Christian Kirks contract makes me want to puke. 18m a year with incentives can be up to 21m/year lmao and people were complaining about amari cooper.

I never thought that Scherff would want to come here, but I'm glad I was wrong. He immediately gives us a significant upgrade at the LG position and if you ask me, we got him at a bargain price 4 years $21 million. He is worth every penny. I just hope he stays healthy. This is a nice way to start things off.

He plays RG

He will likely play LG here. He played on the left side in college. He can play either position. He even played some LT at Iowa.
