Yup. Rory is also unlikeable to me. Wish he would just quit making jabs at everyone unprovoked and just focus on golf. Dude hasn't sniffed in a major in almost a decade. I wish he would handle all of this better, similar to how Rahm has handled it all.

He’s turned into Jay Monahan’s lapdog. (08-11-2023, 07:32 AM)KingIngram052787 Wrote: Yup. Rory is also unlikeable to me. He's unnecessarily pitting himself against the non-pga set, and that is off-putting, but that statement is inaccurate. He's finished in the top ten at Augusta alone 7 times in the last decade.

While this is true, and maybe this is recency bias, I feel like he was never in it most of the first 3 days and then mounted a charge on the last day to place nicely but never really had a chance to win. Don't recall him being in a final group recently, or hanging back at the driving range hoping for a playoff, etc. Being in the top 10 is great, but doesn't really mean he had a chance to win, plus it's Rory, so, expectations are always higher.
Victor Hovland and Colin Morikawa are probably my two favorites of the young golfers right now. I really enjoy watching them play and they are good interviews as well.
Hovland had an interesting two days in this week's tournament: https://twitter.com/PGATOUR/status/16901...07904?s=20 (Marty - dig the lag adjustment in the video ^) We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I wonder if he’s still driving his Corvette from tournament to tournament.

Viktor Hovland taking The Tour Championship. Eighteen million bones. Not a bad haul and I'm glad to see him take it. He's more of the face of the PGA I would like to see. He seems like a really genuine guy.
Brooks Koepka selected to be on the Ryder Cup team.
Soiled by LIV! I’m feeling faint. (08-29-2023, 12:30 PM)homebiscuit Wrote: Brooks Koepka selected to be on the Ryder Cup team. Seems like a no brainer. They'd be really stupid to snub a guy who has played so well in the open events. Scheffler summed it up well recently when asked about Brooks and the team. https://twitter.com/OfficialTourPro/stat...32378?s=20 https://twitter.com/OfficialTourPro/stat...32378?s=20
Not the PGA (but involves future PGA players). The Americans won the Walker Cup. Congrats, fellas.

With the growth of golf in Asia, it's only a matter for time before the Solheim Cup, Ryder Cup, and President's Cup become 3-way competitions between the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Americans not starting well, at all, in the Ryder Cup. Already down 4-0 on the first day.
Is it wrong for me to root for the European team? I just kind of like those guys a little better than I like the American team.
Some suggestions about how to improve the US Ryder Cup team.

LIV Golf players will not be getting Official World Golf Ranking points, for a variety of reasons.

This is good because it will keep PGA players away from that tour. God, I hate LIV. Please…I just want it to go away for so many reasons. The coverage is unwatchable…it’s the furthest thing from competitive golf I’ve ever seen.

LIV won’t last much longer. Its premise was compete with the PGA but that won’t happen with the merger. In essence, the PGA bought their competitor to put them out of business. My guess is the PGA will offer LIV players an opportunity to return to the PGA if they pay a fine and kiss Jay Monahan’s a… er, ring. |
