Bridgewater's ceiling is....

#41

One thing in particular I like about what Matt Ryan brings to the table is his performance level in crunch times in games.   Teddy Bridgewater seemed to have that dimension on the college level.   That doesn't guarantee the same will be the case in the NFL but Bridgewater's intangibles are clearly an asset.

Only if he's sitting behind a future HoF for 2 or 3 years.

Because Painter was a 1st round pick?

Quote:Is Matt Ryan really a good QB or do his WR's make him look like good QB? Without his go to last year Ryan was exposed.

^^^ this

Pro days, combines should not change how you feel about a player, any body who is of good size, has good arm strength, and can run through some pre scripted drills. Is going to wow on pro day ala Jamarcus Russell, jake locker, Christian ponder, Freemon, Campbell kid from auburn, weeden, ej Manuel, gabbert, a host of USC qbs, etc.

I bet even the Logan Thomas kid turns heads at his pro day..

What matters most is 1.what he puts on film and into film prep, 2. his accuracy, and 3. having at least functional nfl arm strength

He's missing 2 and 3 on your list and who knows what he puts into film prep.  What he put on film was lackluster game manager type stuff.

Teddy Brigade since Combine - "It doesn't matter that he's not throwing at the combine, just wait until his pro-day, you'll see. He's gonna light it up so good you're gonna break your legs jumping on the bandwagon".

Teddy Brigade since 12 hours ago - "Pro-days don't matter. Everybody knows that. Johnny Football / Bortles / Murray / Garrapolo Suck because they are not Teddy.

Johnny Manziel's ceiling is...

...less than six feet above his floor and covered in vomit after last night's bender.

His floor is Chiefs version of Alex Smith. His ceiling isn't Aaron Rodgers though, because I don't see him developing the cannon that Rodgers has, and he is more cerebral, especially as a prospect. His ceiling is a Tom Brady/Russell Wilson hybrid.

Someone with a Johnny avatar calling out Teddy.  I'm surprised.

Id say his floor is the Chiefs Alex Smith and his ceiling is right in that Matt Ryan / Joe Flacco win it if he has the pieces around him level. Maybe not Rodgers (though i think his game is closely modeled to Rodgers they have the same movements and motions you can tell Teddy studied him and tried to use that as a blue print) or Brady/Manning as they dont just fall off trees but still.

Lets say this:

Flip Teddy and Manziels playing styles on the same body.

If Teddy was the one with zero structure who couldnt read defenses and played on a wing and a prayer with bad mechanics, bad decision making and had known attitude / off field problems and questions of dedication and work ethic he would be ripped wide open and trashed as a 6th round at best prospect who is just another run first black QB with attitude issues and isnt really into football.  Aka Marcus Vick or Terrell Pryor.

If Manziel was the one who studied the game and was praised by GMs ,scouts and even his opponents for his preparation, who waited patiently in the pocket, beat teams with his mind , threw amazing touch passes , was in complete control of his offense and given full freedom to audible and adjust plays on the fly and had zero off field issues he would be Andrew Luck.

Sorry to be the one to bring it up but IMO its true.

As a black man I strongly disagree and I am a little insulted and disappointed that you are trying to make this a race thing......

I want TB to succeed but I feel he needs to spend at least 1-2 years on the bench as Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers did. I think if he started for a team right now he would be a game manager at best, and a potential bust if drafted in the top 10.

He isn't ready to start yet, and that goes for any QB in this draft.

I still think he is in the rodgers territory. Yea bridgewater underwhelmed on his pro day but all the issues are correctly. Brady never had the strongest arm but he was able to beat teams mentally. The game functional slows down. A qbs ceiling is really how much the game slows down for him. If bridgewater's brain is what people say it is then i would view this pro day as a very tiny blip. Not dissregarding it, but film takes prescedent
