I think you're crazy.  He's a good player.  Was he the best player in his draft class?  So far, no.  But a bust?  Maybe you and I define "bust" differently.  I've seen many busts who were drafted at or near the top of the draft, and he is about as far from a bust as you can get.  Right now, he is a good player.  He's big, strong, fast, and disruptive.  He'll get better with experience, because he has all the tools.

By the way, he was credited with a sack against the Falcons.

Walker is basically Alualu at a different position.   Decent role player with a long term future in the NFL at a very moderate salary.  However, some team may still pay high $$ on his 2nd contract since he will still be relatively young and still be considered to have upside.

He will end up being much better than Alualu. Tyson was just a guy you could trust to hold down the line and was okay against the run.. he never had any real pass rush ability.


Walker is progressing nicely.

2022: 788 snaps, 3,5 sacks
2023: 164 snaps, 2 sacks.

Hutch has proven to be much better right now and he has shown that the whole time, it's isnt just about the sacks. Actually, I think the ones talking about the sacks are the ones that have not seen Hutch play, he has been much better than Treyvon

The thing I'm curious about as the season unfolds...

Hutch is killing it, will he still kill it as double teams and gameplans shift based on where he's lined up? Does anyone else on that roster benefit from the extra attention Hutch draws?

I am already assuming Allen is our disruptor. If offenses shift in similar fashion, does Walker see an increase in his stats?

When we had Calais, Allen took advantage. Now, Allen is the Calais. It's Walker's turn to get the single-teams and secondary focus. Seize the opportunity!

I know Calais isn't quite what he use to be, but I think he would of been a great addition this past off season to help the younger guys, especially Walker.

I think Fowler is the better example. Early pick with all the expectations to produce big sack numbers. Not horrible, just...a contributor. Not a featured player (thusfar). I agree that he'll have a similar career, too, meandering from team to team, playing his part and helping the D overall, yet never being a headline-grabbing star.

All joking aside, he *is* a pretty good player, very physically gifted and he’ll improve but he probably will never be a great pass rusher or make a pro bowl which, given his draft position, will be a disappointment. That sounds a whole lot like Alualu to me.

A cornerstone player. A franchise player. A tone setter. A fortune changing player. He has shown very, very little flashes of brilliance so far.

The longer he struggles. The more dimmer that hope becomes. I don't fault him though. Nor do I hate him. He didn't ask to be drafted here.

If he fails? I fault the front office, the coaching staff and ownership for not getting the pick of the litter correct in 2022.

They had months to plan, prepare, narrow down, wheel and deal, analyze, second guess, reaffirm, reevaluate, look at the metrics, etc.

At the end of all of that? So far? They got it wrong.

Which is nothing new here in Jacksonville. This team has blundered countless top 5, 10 draft picks since I was a kid. We're probably one of the worst teams over the last three decades when it comes to getting it right.

Travon is most definitely getting doubled. Maybe not on every play, but I make it a point to try and watch him on every snap and he is seeing plenty of double teams.

Baalke was here when they took Henderson and Jefferson.

He's had some decent success. Just not sure what all was truly his decision making wise.

Lawrence was a no brainer. I think Meyer had his input on Etienne. We landed Little, Campbell and Cisco in one draft.

Harrison could turn out to be a good RT. Jury still out on Walker, Lloyd and Fortner though.

Can't think of anybody else noteworthy that he's drafted though.

Very. It explains why this franchise has only seen the play off's four times since the year 2000. 2005, 2007, 2017 & 2022.

We were gifted Lawrence. Just not sure this front office and coaching staff will do enough fast enough at the right time to win it all.

Seems like Walker might be playing a little smarter this year. Its still early, but we aren't seeing any of the silly penalties from last year. Progression is key.

I think he's going to be a really good football player, much better than a lot of other overall #1 picks, and if he's not as good as the #2 overall pick, it won't be by much.
