Now, if Strange/Bigsby turned out to be elite players at their positions, I wouldn't care at all.. but seems unlikely.

He's nasty at times and likes to try and finish his assignment all the way into the ground. I hope they use him more and more as we get into this 2nd half of the season. Bigsby I am just not sold on yet. He flashed some big time ability in the preseason but none of that carried over into the regular season. Outside of a few short yardage, H-back/Fullback style plays he's been disappointing. Whether some of the fumbles or turnovers are on him directly? The fact is, he's a magnet for them. Turnovers in this league are a premium for opponents and a deathblow for your own team. I think they have to consider getting more out of Johnson and Hasty moving forward this year and try and get Bigsby involved in other capacities until that level of trust and confidence can be established with him. At the current pace it's likely that Bigsby will be the #1 back in 2025. Getting the Tight End was fine, we had nothing behind Engram going in and Strange is going to be pretty good I think. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

The stats say that a 400 touch season is the peak of a career no matter what year it happens. I love ETN, but those tires are gonna be bald if this pace continues. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

They need to get someone else on the field to give him a break. It says horrific things about the team's talent evaluation if they really don't have anyone more competent than bigsby to put out there. Etienne is being severely overworked right now. I wouldn't be surprised if their hand is forced by injury soon.

Comparing to last year ETN might be on that downslope already, which would suck. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

I’d take a second round pick on him(if we don’t sign Ridley or actually package some picks and move back into round two). I know we have pressing needs but with amount we use RB, using draft capital on the position doesn’t bother me. Especially if it means extending Travis’ shelf life or finding his replacement. Would be awkward if his own family pushes him out but from what my gator friends tell me, Trevor has an extremely high ceiling. If this team drops another high value pick on a RB I am going to take a dump in a brown paper bag and air mail it to Baalke's address. Because that's essentially what he's doing to the fanbase with these decisions. If you want a RB? Fine. Take a chance with a late 6th round or 7th round pick if you're concerned with adding a guy that bad. You have a superstar in Etienne already. You extended Hasty in the offseason for two years. You signed Johnson in the offseason. The previous year or year before that, he forked over two draft picks to move up to get Conner, a guy that's no longer on the team, and then you dropped a premium pick on a position that we already had a premium player at with Bigsby. That's too much draft capital tied into one position group on a team that's pass happy to begin with and also has one of the weakest performing lineman groups over the last two years in blocking in general, but, in run blocking? It's particularly weak. If you fix the line you will get more out of Etienne, Hasty, Johnson and Bigsby. "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? The problem is Conner is hot garbage and Bigsby is looking pretty [BLEEP] so far, too. Just take excellent players and worry about who's already on the roster later, but they have to be excellent players we're taking.

At this point, if that happened, with Etienne and Bigsby already on the team, I'd try to trade down. My philosophy would not be strict best available player and it wouldn't be strict positional value. I would use a combination. The value of the player is a combination of talent level and positional value. So if I had a RB that I rated slightly better than another player who was a DE, I might take the DE. I liked the Etienne pick because even though he played a less valuable position, his talent level was sky-high.

Logic supersedes value on the board if that value is already met on the roster and then some at said position. We're set with Etienne, we invested a 3RD in Bigsby, we have Hasty onboard for two years and we signed Johnson in the off season. Unless you plan on cutting Lawrence's pass attempts roughly in half per game and running a two back system that calls for a total of close to forty touches per game? There's no reason to continue to add onto that position at the moment. You either, like you said, shoot for a trading partner to get more picks or you take the next best player that fits the team best overall in value. It was hard enough convincing this fanbase in March and April of this year that anything outside of offensive lineman, defensive lineman and a nickel corner were needed from this draft. I highly doubt anybody had TE (Maybe a little bit because of the Engram situation) and RB high on their personal wish list. And, based on the fact that our offensive line continues to struggle and we only have one primary sack contributor in Allen? It looks like TE and RB were treated with "luxury" picks that really didn't maximize the value and needs of the team at the time. "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?
