Hey bro I'm not trying to pick a fight, but I don't understand why people feel this way about JFF. Time and time again Johnny stood in the pocket and fired away. He scans the entire field and he finds the open receivers. IMHO he would stay in the pocket too long at times and then the internal clock would go off and he would scramble. But he was not wild or quick to run. Manziel is a pocket passer with elite scrambling ability. If anything the worry with Manziel is if he will get adequate time in the pocket and if the receiving core will readjust their routes once he's evading pressure because at that point he is still going to look down field for a target. Anyone who disputes that part of his game is a hater, or hasn't taken time to watch the games and or film/highlights.

Bortles is one situation where I would hope that the coaching staff has Henne start next year and not Luke McCown him two games in. If Bortles is brought along slowly, he has the natural talent to be the best QB in the class.

That's also the expectation you should have with this crop.  Draft and develop.  But also keep looking.

 

I don't expect the franchise savior in this draft.  When you reach for something that simply isn't there, you end up empty handed.

I've always had a sneaking suspicion that this will be the case.  It's hard to get an objective opinion about him with all the Bridgewater/Manziel hype.

 

It's good to see CSIII getting respect now.  His first season was a real confidence killer.  I still remember him being roundly booed during pregame team introduction at EverBank.  He kept his head down and worked hard.  Now look at him.   :thumbsup:

He used to keep the ball down too, he was a fumble machine his first season, he must have muffed at least 5 punt returns...

His rookie season wasn't bad, he hardly played. His 2 catches were both for 15 yards one of which was a beautiful fade TD on Thursday night Football.

Your wrong, it was bad. He made a mistake almost every time he got on the field. He looked like a surefire bust. I remember being amazed that he even caught a TD pass at the end of the year. I am surprised that more people don't remember how bad he was. The most annoying thing tha year was watching Jack trot Cecil out there after all the fumbles/drops/muffs he had done in previous weeks.

They're both raw, athletic prospects coming out of college. It's not to say that Bortles can't succeed, because with time on the bench to learn the pro game, I believe he can. I also believe that Gabbert would be a much better QB (but probably still not worth the pick) if he'd been allowed to sit and learn. Basically, if Bortles is thrown out there on day one, I think his career will more closely mirror Gabbert's than we'd all like it to.

As fans from afar we can say that each other may/is wrong but the fact remains that surpassed his dismal rookie season Somebody was right for selecting/believing in CSIII...
