Zay Jones Arrested

The Bigsby pick was terrible on a number of levels, but the Strange pick was even worse. They passed on a potential pro-bowl guard (doing very well this season) for a slightly above average tight end. I feel like Pederson would have much preferred LaPorta, Musgrave or Mayer, but all were already taken so he "settled" for the next best option.

Torrence?  We didn't pass on him unless you are advocating having taken him in the first instead of Harrison.  He got selected 2 spots before Strange near the end of the 2nd round.

EDIT: Ah nevermind, forgot about the trade back from Rd 2 pick 25.

Would've been a small package to just up a few spots to grab him. Baalke just didn't make the move.

I fully expect him to have a much improved remainder of the season, but the offensive line must give him more protection. Statistics usually don't lie and our line is rated in the bottom two or three in most categories. Baalke has certainly made some very good moves as G.M., but passing on Torrence last April was one of his biggest mistakes. The offensive line must become the top priority during the off-season.
the most important position in the NFL is your "lease" worry?

That's correct. I believe that if he gets better offensive line play, he will play like he did during the 2nd half of last season. Naturally, I'd be very worried about him getting hurt due to terrible line play but that was not my point. Trevor obviously has room to improve, but if I was starting a franchise tomorrow he'd be in my top 5 picks with only Mahomes significantly above him.

SO IS THE LINE

But you are right. He is the biggest worry. If he gets hurt playing behind the inconsistent patchwork we have blocking for him, we are cooked. If we can't keep defenders off of him for at least two seconds, thereby resulting in fumbles or picks, yeah, we're cooked.

You're expecting the kid (compare his age to Burrow, might be interesting) to accomplish the unpossible.

Do you think having Zay on the field helps or hinders Trevor's ability to move the sticks? At the very least, one would say it can't hurt, right?
I'm not expecting him to be jesus considering the circumstances, but come on man he's had a pittiful year, and honestly is LUCKY to be 6-3 right now. He's done less for us THIS SEASON than Blake did in 2017 through 10 weeks.. that's not a great sign, regardless of the circumstances.

What opinion? I'm just talking about what we've seen through 10 weeks, the offense and Trevor has been extremely poor.

I'm also even more unhappy than I was doing the draft, we needed OL and potentially a NB and we took a bum RB and a backup TE... just confusing if you ask me.

Yeah, #FreeZayJones

He's not free, in fact, he'll be an $8 million cap savings next year if they designate him as a Post 6/1 release. I think they have to consider that if this legal things gets messier.

It’s great to have  zay back, but I think Ridley was due for this either way.

Zay is staring down some legal trouble, I think the outcome of those issues will be the deciding factor in his staying next year.
