Currently would you as the GM give Lawrence a Mega deal?

Or you know, the first time I spoke about Trevor Lawrence and the reason this board hates me was pointing out how he dosen't progress through his reads well and throws high-inaccurate passes. This was at Clemson, Doug wasn't there and neither was Urban. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Everyone's gotta be better. I thought the 3rd down goal line call was awful. Lawrence needs consistency maybe go work with Manning or something idk.
No Fun

Pederson presser said Trevor made the call on the sneak, was not the play that was called.

Trevor needs lots of improving. He’s not elite, he never was - but he’s young and is talented.
The hall sails on him too much and his accuracy isn’t great. He’s still miles better than what we’ve had in the past. The offensive and defensive line need a major upgrade. I think then we could argue that we will be in a better situation.

They were too far to try that qb one handed leap. I said it before they even did it. Third down call was dumb, 4th down call was dumb…
But I’m mostly upset about the last drive. 2nd and 2 with 2:00 to go. And three straight incompletions. Especially the third and 4th down. He wasn’t hit, he wasn’t in a crazy rush, he just decided he was throwing left and missed both. Just head scratching for sure.

How many games this season has Trevor come out in his post game and said he didn’t play his best. Feels like over half of them (including after some of the early wins when the defence kept bailing the offence out)

He doesn’t throw his teammates under the bus.
I think everyone would agree he hasn't been a top 5 qb. But he is somewhere between 5-15 and in my mind somewhere closer to 10. Yes there are things he needs to improve on (turnovers, accuracy at times, ability to feel pressure better, etc...). However finding a guy who is better isn't going to be easy. For crying out loud we spent the last 15 years trying to find someone better than Garrard of all QBs. Dump Lawrence after next season and we could easily go another 15 years in the basement. He may never become the guy who can carry an average team with a terrible oline. But I do think he can carry a good enough supporting cast to a deep playoff run. Fix the interior oline and I think the offense takes off.
If possible I'd try to do a deal this offseason. Obviously it has to be in line with how good he has been. He doesn't deserve burrow level contract. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff.

The ball sails mostly when his mechanics are not near perfect, and that requires a clean pocket especially up the middle. It is something that can worked around if the coaches/FO didn't underestimate how much he needs that. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I'd rather lug around Lawrence for 4 years on good dollar then not give him money and he goes to titans or some other team and tears us up.
Idc if it's year 4, we were still fighting for playoffs right down to the last game ...at least it made things fun..instead of us being in draft talks in week 10 (01-07-2024, 08:06 PM)Cleatwood Wrote:(01-07-2024, 08:05 PM)Ordar Wrote: How many games this season has Trevor come out in his post game and said he didn’t play his best. If the players were still invested, someone would have stepped up as a leader, something would have leaked about bad coaching, etc. Every answer was we just have to be better and coaches always blaming player execution.
