You either have to hope for a guy to be there at 17 or hope you can move up to get your guy but that's expensive as well in it's own way with a different currency. We're looking at Allen's extension still and Lawrence's soon. How much longer will we have Kirk as well? Davis is a bridge to help adjust, but, they absolutely need to find Lawrence's Chase, Jefferson or Brown to work with for the next 5 years. I don't think you have to take a WR at 17 (pending who's still on the board of course), but you definitely have to draft at least one and from everything I've seen/read this is a deep WR class. Gotta hit one within the first 3 rounds, but the problem is Baalke is our GM and he has never drafted a good WR in his life.
I hope we are not going for a WR in the first two rounds.
We still need big uglies in the trenches. Guard and DE/DT is still a need. Scherff is getting old and bad on running game. Hamilton was not good last season and we don't know if he is healthy. Fautanu or Byron Murphy II would be nice. I understand that you guys want a WR or a CB. Morse and Armstead are great but it's not enough to me

How many WRs has he ever drafted in the first three rounds? The answer is 1. He's drafted three in the fourth rounds. None were hits but he hasn't taken enough shots to say he can't draft elite receivers. 0-1 doesn't a pattern make.
At some point you have to draft and develop your own players, not just buy another team’s players. A sure recipe for continued mediocrity.

Again, another guy they drafted and developed. I also fail to see the point here. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? If Baalke drafted a big ugly in every round of the draft, I would not be mad. We have the QB. We have to protect him. He has the potential to make average guys great with time. I'm worried we are going to break him trying to get him a star receiver. We have a great TE. We have guys that can get open. Get the dude protection and we are competing for a championship each year.

My concern is 2022 all over again with this WR core as well. Even if the offensive line plays at an average level. And they make a post season run.
Still have to wonder if Kirk can extend and make the tough catches. If Zay can hold up physically. If Davis is capable of not dropping the big one's or running the wrong routes, something he did in Buffalo. Do you HAVE to drop the 1st on a WR? No. Do you HAVE to drop the 2nd on a WR? No. I honestly think they go defense in RD1 and RD2. But, they need to be eyeing a WR by RD3 at the minimum. We need a clean route runner that can work the outside and press the safety from time to time his way in coverage. Names to remember next month, since we'll be bargain bin shopping more than likely: Ja'Lynn Polk Jalen McMillan Javon Baker Joshua Cephus Jamari Thrash Hayden Hatten Jaxon Janke Jadon Janke Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? No, we aren't the Niners or Chiefs, but I'm wondering what the Jags could be if we surrounded Lawrence with that team. One of the four teams playing in the conference championship had an elite WR. All 4 DID have an elite receiving TE, though. It wasn't my original point, but maybe we should be looking for our Kittle, Kelce, Andrews, or LaPorta. And yes, drafting that elite player is definitely the way to go. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Like last year showed, you can have the toys but you cannot use them if your offensive line is getting it's butt kicked. You cannot maximize those receivers if you cannot run the ball and the LB's are free to drop back into the crossing routes with no regard to a running game. What we have currently is a patchwork to me. They are all vets that can play but are only bridges. What is behind them are just warm bodies with the exception of Little and maybe Tugboat. We desperately need at least 2 good OL out of this draft. Preferably a tackle and a guard/center. The D-line with the recent acquisition is in better shape. We still need to draft one big powerful immovable block eater on the line to free up our linebackers. Once again early to mid round. Due to our line's performance or lack of last year, I feel those priorities are higher. This draft is deep so I see one early round (1) and two mid round (2-4). We need to repair the line's pipelines unless we want to depend on acquiring older veteran free agents.
A new broom always sweeps clean.

Not just the final 4 teams but look at all the playoff teams. Almost all of them had an elite WR on their team. Jags don’t have that. ARSB. Tyreek. Waddle. Aiyuk. Deebo. Diggs. Evans. Nico. Cooper (arguable). Kupp. Puka. AJB. Devonta. Lamb. These are all elite/borderline elite/ very good separators. You don’t NEED an elite WR to win a SB but you need a lot of other areas to be elite in order to win. Jags DLine is close to that but the OLine, WR room, linebackers and secondary are all average. As someone else mentioned, drafting and developing players is something Baalke and the Jags haven’t been able to do. And when they do draft and develop, they botch the extension (Josh Allen). I love the Armstead signing. Reminds me of Calais but I don’t trust Baalke in the draft and to me, that’s the most important attribute a GM can have. Nailing the draft and finding gems in the later rounds. Rams didn’t have a 1st round pick and NAILED their draft last year.
