That's how you play this game Do you really consider them moderates anymore though? Because from what I've been reading, a majority of the moderates are just as upset because of the verdict (maybe they've finally realized that a guilty verdict united a country against them? idk) But maybe it's time to start believing these people when they tell you whom they really are. Maybe you can reach some, but the ones still denying are a lost cause. (05-31-2024, 01:36 PM)HURRICANE!!! It does not make sense to judge a President based on economic performance during their term, even if they invite you to do so. A President can't unilaterally create 0% interest or large changes to budgets. But yes, obviously if we magically turned the dials of interest and tax rates back to where they were when Trump was in office, inflation would spiral out of control. Those were (probably) the appropriate settings then, but not now.

Yes, there are specific cases where a specific policy change can be connected to good economic results, but most changes in the economy are driven by things that Presidents and members of Congress don't even think about. I completely agree that the economy is not as good today as the stock market suggests it is. And low unemployment is good, but it doesn't mean much when real wages are slowly shrinking. Biden has to insist the economy is great, but (to my point) he shouldn't have to, and (to your point) it ain't.

There was a police officer who died later, probably from getting his head beaten with blunt objects, but that's not relevant. People died. Period. You're trying to start a conversation about if the officer was right to shoot her, but that's off topic and we've already had that conversation.

It was Mission Accomplished for the Dems.. All they wanted was to finally be able to give Biden a talking point for the debates. Nobody with at least half a mind is buying it though. Even the Dems understand that once it reaches Appellate Court, it'll get tossed like a TLaw button hook. Dog and Pony show.. That's what appeals are for. Judges always have to make decisions about what arguments the lawyers can present to the jury because that then becomes the questions that the judge will ask the jury at the end. But this judge did not do a good job.

The jury did their job. The judge presented them with loaded questions but the answers were yes. I thought at least one juror would call BS on it, but alas. There are three other cases, where the facts and law are clearer. In the GA case, the prosecutor has been overly ambitious and indicted too many co-conspirators, so that takes time, and in the federal cases the judges are doing a bad job in that they refuse to issue final rulings on what can and can not be presented to a jury. Sometimes you get a judge who has no caution, and sometimes you get a judge who is too cautious. So I'll definitely agree with you that he should never have been tried this way in New York, but in return I expect you to agree with me that by now trials should have already been completed in the other three cases.

If judge sentences him to jail or prison, all hell breaks loose in this country and most definitely the SC has to step in.

In NY, unless you plead guilty, or have a violent history, or are a flight risk, sentences are always suspended pending appeal. He's not going to prison in NY. Not from this proceeding anyways.
