This guy is on a roll lately.  He's apparently arrived in his own mind.  Let's see how this plays out this season and when they face each other on Halloween night.  Will these words come back to haunt CJ?  Should be interesting.

I think [BLEEP] talking is appropriate in some circumstances and not in others.  With Boxing, MMA or other combat type sports, it's potentially a means of getting into someone's head which can help lead to your victory.  I have no problem with it in that context.  Within the NFL, DBs talking [BLEEP] to WRs and vice versa is essentially the same thing, but when you're talking QB to QB when each is dealing with 21 other guys on the field at the same time, there's a LOT outside of your control even as the QB.  It takes a great team and still some significant luck to win a championship. Commenting on the lack of Super Bowls of a 40 year old 1st ballot Hall of Famer who you face later this year seems absolutely ridiculous and short sighted to me, especially when you don't have 1.  CJ has become unlikable this offseason and I would say this even if he were outside the division.

Also, wasn't it the Jets D that put him in concussion protocol last year?  Yes, yes it was.

He's been on a roll since the season ended. Confidence is great, especially at QB, but he is going to be taking a lot of unnecessary hits as an ego check. Health is always the most important aspect of a successful season. Lose your QB, season is over.

Talking [BLEEP] doesn't bother me if he continues to back it up.
Tons of players live and thrive in that world, but it can get awkward for them after poor performances.

We'll see if his confidence level is congruent with his play soon enough.
When he slips up, he may hear some tougher questions than before if he keeps this podcast bravado offseason tour going.

I honestly hope he [BLEEP] and falls back in it.

Well of course you do. Tongue  For the record he was replying to the Colts LBs talking smack, and called out Aaron Rodgers who is a great QB but is a complete nutjob and is a bad teammate, according to Antonio Brown of all people.

Bad news for the Texans today, Denico Autry was suspended for 6 games for a PED violation. The faint silver lining is that another FA DT/DE Mario Edwards has looked very good during training camp, and was already penciled in as the starting 3-tech. It will hurt in the 4-2-5 defense, where Autry would have been brought in as an interior pass-rusher.

How has the running game looked over there?

Still pretty rough, the D-Line is schooling our O-Line on the left side (Blake Fisher our rookie T is learning the hard way the difference between college and the pros at LT.)  However we're also missing Tunsil and Mixon, and the O-line can't perform the typical cut blocks (due to "thud" practice) that are required by the ZBS...so there's still hope it'll come into shape.

Write this down, unknown FA DT Mario Edwards is going to have a fantastic season at 3-tech. He has performed extremely well in training camp, and was extremely disruptive in the Steelers pre-season game. Even Foley looked impressive as a run-stopper against the Steelers, the Texans have to hope he stays healthy.

Unknown? I remember his pre draft hype and his 2nd round selection. What was it, 2016 or so?

Edwards is far from unknown.  He was a very good player at Florida St. and came here at one point but was past his prime and was put on the practice squad. I don't see Edward's having a fantastic season at this point in his career

Err OK, how about "unheralded".  The point is that he was originally brought in as a player who Texans fans thought would compete for depth, but based on his performance so far he appears to have locked down a starting DT position and has been very impressive playing that position.

The reports I've seen from camp prior to week one of pre-season were that the guy ahead of him was suspended and he has stepped into the role well enough to be a pleasant surprise.

My understanding is that the original plan was for Denico Autry (^suspended) to play inside to pass rush in the nickel package, but that the base (4-3 Over) 3-tech was a spot that was still being competed for and has been all but won by Edwards.  My guess is that we'll see Anderson, Autry, Edwards, and Hunter as the starting 4 in nickel (after Autry's 6 week suspension.)

However, DeMeco's defense focuses on bringing in waves of DLine throughout the game so that everyone is fresh and can go 100% each snap.  So unlike OLine for example, being 2nd string doesn't mean that the DL won't see the field if they're "backups."

And what do you know, both Edwards and Fatukasi both got a sack today.
