Where do we go from here? First look for our errors.
Questions. Who ever said Doug was good with QB's and why? I have been looking for proof of his skill with QB's but have not found any. I am sure due his laid back nature they like him as a human being. The only other young QB he mentored began good then flamed out. What is all the noise about a Doug offense? From where I sit he has an extremely average offensive system. The record show we should expect a 15th to 17th ranked offense that scores 22 to 23 points per game. I can only project his plan is to be average and hope to get lucky. Record 2016 16th and 22.9 points per game. 2017 1st and 29 points per game. SB 2018 20th and 22.1 points per game. 2019 15th and 23.2 points per game. 2020 26th and 20.9 points per game. 2022 9 th and 23.9 points per game. 2023 15th and 22.2 points per game. 2024 18th and 21.7 points per game.

Philly went to a couple SB's with Reid and came up short, Doug getting them over the line, and against the Patriots earnt him some big bonus points. I also think the Philly Special play helped build that narrative. But I think it's mainly having Wentz playing his best football and when he went down he got Foles, an average career QB playing ridiculously and winning it all. Like you point out, if anything that year was an anomaly but is treated as that was a typical year.

When you look at the drop-off from 2017 to 2018, keep in mind that Frank Reich left as offensive coordinator in 2018. I question whether Pederson's offensive success in 2017 had a lot to do with having a good OC and little to do with Pederson.

(11-10-2024, 01:16 PM)Jag149 Wrote: Where do we go from here? First look for our errors. In 2017, the Eagles were 2nd in Defensive TDs with 6 and Top 5 in TO's due to a lot fumble recoveries. The offense then had a top 5 average starting field average on the season. They were also Top 5 in 4th down conversion and Redzone percentage on offense. It was very similar to why the Jaguars did well that year, Philly just had slightly better QB's than the Jags did. Issue is that all of those statistics have a substantial luck factor and are difficult to replicate every year, and they never were replicated under Pederson with Philadelphia.
Gave up 241 passing yards to Darnold. We need a CB or a safety in round 1.
We also need a legit DT. Anybody besides Davon Hamilton.
Where do we go from here? The 1st overall pick. I think our games with the Tacks will determine who picks 1st overall. Ive never wanted us to lose but id rather not let them get the top QB.

Once we get rid of Baalke and Doug, we need to go all in on O-Line. Draft and Free Agency. We need a better O-Line. With a decent HC and a respectable O-Line, we're playoff bound. This team has talent on D. This team has talent at WR, RB, and TE. This team has a franchise QB. We need upgrades at O-Line and a HC that knows how to run a modern NFL offense.
We are going nowhere fast. Same old same old. This team takes hope and builds infinite sadness. Defeat from victory. Misery is our currency.
That collapse last year was the indicator. Why does this team stay pat when it is obvious we are holding a lousy hand?

It's probably a good year to get #1 overall. Cam Ward is looking pretty legit so here's to hoping some team gives us a Carolina type package to move up

Get a pocket crushing DT and the secondary will be fine. You cannot play man when the QB has 4 seconds in a clean pocket. Sitting at 2-8, about to be 2-9 at the bye week. Of all the horrendous seasons endured, this one hit hard the most by far. I didn't expect this team to be great, but surely didn't anticipate them being #1 overall pick worthy.
Where do we go? The offseason is where we go! Looking forward to winning the offseason for like the 12th year in a row. Vikings game was a great reminder of why back up QBs are back ups. Hopefully Trevor can play the rest of the season, other wise I don't see a reason to go to any games to support the team. If the 1/4 billion dollar QB is going to sit out, fans can and will too. It's an arm and a leg to bring the entire family to games, and if multi million dollar athletes feel it's ok to sit out for next season, so be it. Hope the next home game has a record low attendance, perhaps Khan wakes up when the stadium is embarrassingly empty, tarp kitties back 2024. There is without a doubt a curse on this team, and I hate John Oyster for it. (11-10-2024, 08:34 PM)flsprtsgod Wrote:(11-10-2024, 07:26 PM)JagFanatic24 Wrote: Gave up 241 passing yards to Darnold. Between Hunter, Johnson & Graham. I think we're guaranteed one of those three defenders at this rate. What was the forecast by Doug. I believe he said one time his goal was to average about 27 ppg. They are averaging 20.2, I can feel that is quite a miss.
At first last game I though boy the guys are playing hard for the coaches, especially the defense. We were told the issue was the defense last year and changes were made. As the game went on it occurred to me they were doing this to eliminate the excuse the season has turned out the way it has due to them. Honestly Doug threw them under th bus at the end of last year. Fired their coaches and announce the problem solved. The game against the Viking last week was not lost due to the defense. They only allowed 12 points to the 10th ranked offense , a team that averages 24.2 points per game. This despite the Vikings possessing the ball for 42.59 minutes or 71% of the time. I find this to be an amazing performance and not the reason we lost last Sunday. Currently for this season the Jaguars have a time of possession of 26.22 minutes per game which is 31st in the league. Only Indy is worse, but fear not we are closing on them. This represents a drop of 4.15 minutes a game from last year. Draw your own conclusions as to what the issue Kahn has to deal with, I have mine.

For example I remember the Colts Freeney and Mathis eating up QB's and they didn't really have a pocket crushing DT. I get that was a basically a different era of football and those guys are speed rushers. But if you could set up a scheme without requiring that guy who would require a high draft pick or FA $$, it would be ideal. I said it multiple times that we need to go all in on upgrading the O-Line. Try reading my entire post for once in your lives.
The team needs to.... this is our battle cry.
